The 2026 pool season at the Charles E. Fairman Community Pool has come to an end! On Saturday, August 15, we hosted a special event, 'Paws in the Pool,' for dogs before draining the pool.

A big thank you to all our furry friends for joining us and having fun! We look forward to seeing you in 2027!

We are super excited to announce our 3rd Annual Paws in the Pool! 🐾🎉

All of the info you need for your pup to enjoy the pool can be found below!

Before attending this event with your pooch, please review the following:
❌Do not force your dog into the water if they're uncomfortable
❌Do not bring your own toys
❌Don't bring food
❌Don't p*e or poo in the pool

✅Do make sure your dog is up to date on vaccines
✅Do rinse off your dog after the pool to get the chlorine off of them
✅Do bring fresh water for your dog to drink
✅Do bring a towel to dry your dog off
✅Do make sure your dog has an ID tag with your phone number listed

City officials have decided to close the community pool on Thursday, July 16, due to hazardous air quality caused by the Canadian wildfires.

Good air quality is indicated by a score under 50, but the air quality in Big Rapids currently has reached 500, which is considered hazardous.

We will plan to have Baby swim, handicap swim and competitive swim lessons today at 11am and if the weather doesn't turn to heavier rain or thunderstorms we will be open this afternoon for open swim and this evening for swim lessons. July 9th, 2026

Attention all Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday Lesson Participants: It came to our attention the first week of Saturday lessons that there is a half hour gap in our lesson schedule. We would like to ask that all 4,5 and 6 year old classes plan to bump up by half and hour. Instead of having class at 11 and 11:30 please plan to have class at 10:30 and 11am. Please call if you have any questions or feel free to ask us at Thursday night lessons. We will be reminding everyone about this at lessons tomorrow night as well.
