Institute in Basic Life Principles

Institute in Basic Life Principles IBLP Ministries is dedicated to sharing principles from God’s Word that apply to daily life.

The Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP) was established for the purpose of introducing people to the Lord Jesus Christ, and is dedicated to giving individuals, families, churches, schools, communities, governments, and businesses clear instruction and training on how to find success by following God’s principles found in Scripture. These goals are accomplished primarily through seminars, edu

cational programs, printed literature, and the operation of centers to facilitate training. You are invited to explore and avail yourself of the resources we offer.

When morally impure thoughts begin plaguing our mind, what are we supposed to do? Many individuals have tried various ways to get rid of these thoughts, but many of their attempts ended in failure. For these individuals, there was usually awareness that such thoughts are violations of God’s standard. Yet the impure thought could not be eradicated. What is the answer when dealing with thoughts that we know are wrong?

In this combined testimony and whiteboard teaching video, we hear about the moral struggle that several individuals had, as well as the solution that liberated them. In this video we discover that the answer for overcoming moral impurity is two-fold: the first facet deals with our spirit while the second facet deals with our soul.

What do you do when someone ignores your preferences, disregards what you feel is your just due, or meddles with your possessions in some way? Do any of the above scenarios result in anxiety, anger, or retaliation?

If someone violates our personal rights, it is very easy to resort to our own methods to deal with that violation. But when we do this, particularly in relation to earthly possessions, the ultimate motivation behind it is often materialism: a condition that Scripture warns against (see Matthew 6:19-21). If this is the case, and we desire to do the right thing, what is the correct response when someone violates our rights or meddles with our possessions?

In this combined testimony and whiteboard teaching video, we hear the story of a missionary who experienced a frustrating series of events on the mission field: his possessions were being stolen. But as God revealed the solution for this dilemma, we discover that it involved far more than just the thefts being stopped… it involved overcoming a materialistic condition in the missionary’s heart.

When we think of our life experiences, it normally doesn’t take long to think about the people who have wronged us. In a world that is rampant with evil, it is impossible to avoid suffering acts of evil from others. For some, these acts of evil are heinous violations of the law. Such situations should be reported to the civil authorities for justice to be administered, for Scripture tells us that this is the job of civil authorities (see Romans 13:4). But how do we personally come to freedom from the bitterness we have in our hearts because of the hurts? We often feel justified in holding on to resentment because we have been hurt so deeply but the reality is when we hold on to offences we become imprisoned by our own bitterness. So what is the right response in such situations? What does God call us to do when others cause us emotional pain?

In this combined testimony and whiteboard teaching video, we hear accounts of those who resorted to bitterness toward their offenders, and the personal detriment it caused. But — praise God — that was not the end of their story! These same individuals also testify of learning God’s remedy for suffering offenses, and the liberation of soul they experienced when that remedy was embraced.

What is your first response when someone tells you that you did something wrong? Do you have a knee-jerk reaction that seeks to provide answers for why you are right? What if the matter has to do with how you treated another person… do you instantly justify your actions by stating why the other party deserved how you treated them? As human beings, our natural “wiring” always seeks to alleviate guilt when someone else says we are worthy of it, regardless of our past actions. And if we do take the time to consider any wrong deeds we might have committed, our mind is very quick to think of scenarios of how someone else’s actions were worse than our own misdeeds. But how does God see this situation? In the end, when we give account of our actions to Him, will He ignore our misdeeds because those of others were worse? Scripture reveals that we will never eliminate personal guilt by trying to balance it with blame of others. The Bible tells us how our walk of faith itself will be greatly damaged when we fail to take responsibility for a guilty conscience. (See 1 Timothy 1:19)

In this combined testimony and whiteboard teaching video, we hear the story of a man who fostered a barrier in a family relationship by ignoring his own misdeeds and focusing on the misdeeds of another. But when he recognized his own responsibility before God, and took the courageous step to clear his conscience, it unlocked an amazing chain of events that resulted in healing and restoration.

How do you feel when you look in the mirror and see features that seem less-than-ideal? How do you respond when someone else makes a derogatory comment about your appearance? What does your mind conclude when you find your physical abilities limited in some way? For many people, their physical appearance and capabilities comprise a large part of their identity. If one’s identity falls under scrutiny, their perceived disadvantage motivates them toward choices that are often unhealthy and even destructive. Such was the case for Carl who, after feeling ostracized as a boy, was driven to compensate for his perceived lack. But because the source of Carl’s problem was not understood or dealt with, his life remained open for wrong influences and substances to enter in, producing addiction, marital tension, and incarceration. Only after realizing the root of his problem was Carl able to find peace from the struggle he had faced since his youth.

In this combined testimony and whiteboard teaching video, we learn how to look past the surface issues that often distract us, and discover the root problem beneath the struggle with self-rejection. We hope you are encouraged as you hear how Carl stopped trying to derive worth from his abilities and discovered his genuine value in the kingdom of God.
