At Morningstar Learning Center, we believe early learning should be meaningful, engaging, and grounded in real experiences ✨

That’s why we proudly implement Creative Curriculum® by Teaching Strategies across all classrooms—from infants to preschool.

This research-based approach blends play, exploration, and intentional teaching, supporting the whole child—socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically. Our teachers bring learning to life through hands-on experiences, thematic studies, and opportunities for creativity and problem-solving. From nature walks to connections with local partners, children are building real relationships with the world around them!

Today we want to celebrate an incredible member of the Morningstar Learning Center team—Ms. Mayra!

For the past 7 years, Ms. Mayra has been a steady, loving infant room teacher, caring for the babies of Big Sky with patience, warmth, and deep dedication. Her work helps lay the foundation for lifelong learning during the most important early months of development.

Ms. Mayra’s ability to build trust with children and families is truly special, and we are so grateful for the lasting impact she makes every single day.

Our employee housing program has played a pivotal role in making it possible for Ms. Mayra and her family to live and work in Big Sky. In turn, she continues to be a vital part of our community—supporting working families and helping our youngest learners thrive.

Donations from our Black Tie Trivia Fundraiser helps us provide livable wages and affordable housing so educators like Ms. Mayra can continue their essential work and remain rooted in our community for years to come.

Our preschoolers took a wonderful trip to the Big Sky Community Food Bank today!

During our tour, students learned how the food bank supports families and workforce members across Gallatin and Madison counties. They helped move food from boxes into crates, stocked shelves, and proudly practiced being “good helpers” in our community. There were also plenty of smiles as they did the “banana peel dance” and created their own fruits and vegetables out of playdough.

A big thank you to Ms. Laine for leading such an engaging and thoughtful tour! The food bank was founded in 2012 as a partnership between Big Sky community members and the Human Resource Development Council, and its mission is to enhance the food security, health and dignity of those in need in Big Sky in order to make Big Sky a livable and sustainable year-round community for all. Each year, the organization works alongside grocers, kitchens, and volunteers to serve an average of 2,300 food boxes to 900 households.

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to connect our students with the spirit of service here in Big Sky. Experiences like this help nurture empathy, kindness, and a deeper understanding of what it means to care for our neighbors. Our students were delighted to welcome the team from this month for a special Valentine’s cookie decorating activity. Two of the team members were MLC parents, which made this visit extra special!! The experience was hands-on, creative, and filled with smiles from start to finish!
