The BSPD is currently experiencing an outage affecting our non-emergency phone lines due to a service interruption with Webex. Technicians are aware of the issue and are actively working to restore service.

🚧 BIRDWELL LANE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE 🚧

Construction continues on Birdwell Lane between FM 700 and East 11th Place.

⚠️ The east side lanes of Birdwell Lane are fully closed, with two-way traffic operating on the west side lanes only.

⚠️ The following streets cannot be accessed from Birdwell Lane during this phase of construction:
• Morrison Drive
• Alabama Street
• Monticello Street
• North Monticello Street
• East 11th Place

Please plan alternate routes, expect delays, and use caution when traveling through the area.

Traffic Advisory – Birdwell Lane Reconstruction Project

The City of Big Spring would like to remind motorists that construction is ongoing on Birdwell Lane between FM 700 and East 11th Place as part of the Birdwell Lane Reconstruction Project.

During this phase of construction, the east side lanes of Birdwell Lane are completely closed to traffic. Traffic has been reduced to two-way travel using the west-side lanes. Motorists should expect delays and exercise caution when traveling through the construction zone.

In addition, the following streets are currently closed to access from Birdwell Lane:

• Morrison Drive
• Alabama Street
• Monticello Street
• North Monticello Street
• East 11th Place

Motorists will not be able to turn onto or access these roadways directly from Birdwell Lane during construction. Drivers traveling to homes, businesses, and neighborhoods in the area should plan alternate routes and allow additional travel time.

The project is expected to continue for an extended period, and traffic patterns may change as construction progresses. Additional updates will be provided as new phases of the project begin.

The City of Big Spring appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents, businesses, and visitors as these improvements are completed. These upgrades are designed to improve roadway conditions, safety, and long-term infrastructure reliability for the community.

Please obey all posted traffic control devices, reduce speeds in construction zones, and remain alert for construction workers and equipment.

Today is the day we have prayed for.

Today, our community has another option. An option rooted in hope, compassion, and life.

With full hearts, we are honored to share that the Safe Haven Baby Box is officially available and ready to serve our community. ❤️

We are incredibly grateful to the Safe Haven Baby Box team for making this possible and for trusting our community with this life-saving resource.

Thank you to our City, our dedicated firefighters, and the fire station staff who immediately embraced this opportunity to protect and support the most vulnerable among us.

A special thank you to RW Fence & Fab for installing the box and to Ricky Richter for donating his time and expertise to complete the electrical work. Your generosity and servant hearts helped bring this vision to life.

This project has been years in the making, filled with prayers, conversations, planning, and hope. Today, it becomes a reality.

We pray this box is never needed, but we are profoundly thankful that if a mother finds herself in an impossible situation, she now has a safe, legal, and anonymous option.

Today is about grace.
Today is about hope.
Today is about choosing life.

And today, our community is better because of it. 🫶🏻😭❤️

Road Closure Notice

On Friday, May 22, 2026, Goliad Street from 11th Place to 12th Street will be closed to all through traffic to allow our city crews to repair the road grate on Goliad. The road will remain closed until work is completed.
