I was truly fortunate to know Lt. Col. Vaughn Martin for the past 15 years. In that time, I got to see firsthand the kind of man he was—steady, humble, faithful, and deeply committed to serving others. Vaughn was the definition of a life well lived. He served his country with honor, his church with faith, and his community with quiet dedication for decades.
Through his work with the Hangar 25 Air Museum and throughout Big Spring, he helped preserve history and remind all of us what service and integrity look like. He never sought recognition, but he earned the respect of everyone who knew him.
I’m grateful I had the chance to know him and learn from him. He lived a long, good life and left a legacy that will continue to inspire many of us.
I will truly miss him. His wisdom, his steady presence, and the example he set meant more to me than I can put into words. The world feels a little quieter without him.
