82 years ago today, on June 6, 1944, Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy, France. This included around 57,500 American soldiers that arrived by sea, and another roughly 15,500 American paratroopers. The National D-Day Museum in Bedford, Virginia has confirmed that 4,414 lives were lost on June 6 alone. 2,499 of these were American service members. The Battle at Normandy began the liberation of France from the control of N**i Germany, which was a vital turning point in the outcome of the Second World War, and history as we know it.

May we never forget the sacrifices those brave servicemen made, and the impact it has had on each and every one of our lives.
