In recent days Dirk “Set ‘EmFree” Sandefur has sent out quite a cast of surrogates out on the campaign trail to demonize those that are critical of his record and offer apologies and excuse for his record extreme leniency in s*x abuse cases. Let’s take a closer look at this motley crew:

John Parker – The failed Democrat candidate for Attorney General, now Cascade County Attorney who was sanctioned by the District Court for using unlicensed attorneys in his office to prosecute felony cases.

Mike McGrath – the former Democrat Attorney General, now Supreme Court Justice who has received more than $200,000 in contributions from Trial Lawyers and their allies during his career.

Jim Nelson – the former Supreme Court Justice who has long bemoaned outside spending in Supreme Court races, except when he is the beneficiary. In2006, the Trial Lawyers and their allies spent more than $1 Million to ensure Nelson’s re-election. Oddly enough, in the many times he’s criticized outspending in judicial races he never mentions that he is the single largest receipt of such expenditures in modern history.

The Trial Lawyers are dumping in hundreds of thousands of dollars to prop up Dirk “Set ‘Em Free” Sandefur’s campaign by smearing Kristen Juras. Hiding behind innocent sounding Political Action Committee names this group has bought and paid for Justices on the Supreme Court for decades. In recent days, one of the Trial Lawyer front groups has even been found guilty of violating Campaign finance laws in their effort to put their handpicked candidate on the Supreme Court.

Between now and Election Day we will be shinning a light on the big money Trial Lawyers bankrolling these efforts.

Infomercial Lawyer John Heenan has donated nearly $20,000 to Set ‘Em Free Sandefur and the groups supporting him. Mr. Heenan also serves as treasurer for the front group “Montanans for Experienced Judges” that was found guilty of violating Montana’s campaign finance laws.

Pro-Sandefur Trial Lawyer front group found guilty of campaign finance violation

Billings Trial Lawyer John Heenan and his pro-Sandefur trial lawyer front group "Montanans for Experienced Judges" were found guilty of violating Montana's campaign finance laws by the Commissioner of Political Practices.

Heenan, who has volunteered his time to help the Commissioner of Political Practices prosecute conservative candidates and organizations and has donated nearly $20,000 to the Montana Trial Lawyers efforts prop up Set 'Em Free Sandefur, serves as the treasurer of the MEJ group.
