Intertribal Agriculture Council

Intertribal Agriculture Council The IAC was founded in 1987 to promote change in Indian agriculture for the benefit of our people.

Land-based agricultural resources are vital to the economic and social welfare of many Native American and Alaskan Tribes. The harmonies of man, soil, water, air, vegetation and wildlife that collectively make-up the American Indian agriculture community, influence our emotional and spiritual well being. Prior to 1987, American Indian agriculture was basically unheard of outside reservation bounda

ries. Since that time, IAC has grown to prominence in Indian Country and among the federal government agencies and the agricultural field with which it works on behalf of individual Indian producers and Tribal enterprises. The IAC has over the last decade become recognized as the most respected voice within the Indian community and government circles on agricultural policies and programs in Indian country.

Meet IAC Eastern Oklahoma Technical Assistance Specialist Quinton Inman!

“I began working as a Technical Assistance Specialist for IAC in the late summer of 2022. I am 30 years old, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, and live in Ketchum, Oklahoma where my family operates a cow/calf operation. We also have horses, which we use on the ranch and at the rodeo. I am a father and spend most of my time outside of work hauling my daughters to rodeos, or practicing with them at home. I am a four time Indian National Finals World Champion and my oldest daughter is gaining on me with three INFR World Championships of her own.

Before coming to work for IAC, I worked at one of the nation's largest sale barns as a field representative. In that role I worked with producers on how to best market their cattle for the benefit of their operation. While at IAC I have been involved in MPPTA Fly-In planning, assisted the Absentee Shawnee Tribe in starting their cattle operation and farm, and have helped producers all over my region with their operations. I have always worked in agriculture and very much enjoy working with people for the betterment of agriculture, communities, and personal operations.”

"I feel the connection comes from my DNA—feeding people, serving people, engaging in the healing of our communities, and being an advocate and a support for Tribal foodways. Our communities are so centered around food as a key aspect of our cultural perpetuation.

I saw that alignment [with the IAC mission] from very early on. Every day, I get the opportunity to contribute to that. Every day, I get the opportunity to support folks working with the community to realize their goals of feeding themselves and contributing to Tribal sovereignty as a whole." - IAC Chief Stakeholder Engagement Officer Keir Johnson-Reyes

Thank you for helping us uplift agriculture to strengthen communities across Indian Country.
