Tune in to the Angel Tree/Award of Merit Ceremony happening today at noon!

The Yellowstone County DUI Task Force will be hosting the annual Angel Tree/Award of Merit Ceremony on Thursday December 17th at high noon. Since we can’t gather in a large group like we have in years past, we will be streaming live footage via Facebook.

The Angel Tree Ceremony honors victims who were killed in an alcohol/drug related car crash in Yellowstone County. This year we will be honoring Gary Elmo Phelan SR. and Haley Hutzenbiler. Gary and Hayley’s names will be added to the victim’s plaque that is displayed in the courthouse. This plaque is a reminder of the innocent victims of impaired driving fatalities in Yellowstone County.

The Award of Merit Ceremony will recognize individuals in law enforcement and community members for their outstanding contributions to DUI awareness and enforcement throughout 2020. The Awards of Merit for 2020 will be present to:

Officer Eric Schnelback – Billings Police Department
Sergeant Harrison Gillen – Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office
Officer Jackson Booth – Laurel Police Department
Trooper Brennan Plucker – Montana Highway Patrol
Victoria Callender – Yellowstone County Attorney’s Office.

A few of our Victim/Witness Coordinators were able to make it to this event! What a wonderful way to bring awareness of human trafficking to our community. It was an honor to hear the stories of two survivors and several other guest speakers.

Montana State University Billings will host a human trafficking awareness event Thursday.

The Yellowstone County Victim/Witness Coordinators would like to thank everyone that helped, attended, and had lunch with us today! This would have been possible without the help from The Billings City Attorneys Office, The US Attorneys Office, Big Horn County Sheriffs Office, the FBI Victim Specialists, and the YWCA. We appreciate the monetary donations from Costco, Sams Club, and Walmart of Billings. Special shout out to Officer Brad Mansur with the Billings Police Department, Deputy Harrison Gillen with the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office, Captain Michael Fuss with the Big Horn County Sheriffs Office, FBi Agent Christianson, and Dr. Cynthia Brewer with the Billings Clinic for their outstanding work with victims of crime here in Yellowstone County and Big Horn County! This year we also recognized Linda Glantz for her strength and resiliency in her cooperation with us as we pursued justice for her since 1989. The BBQ was a great success and can't wait until next year!!
