In 1964, President Lyndon Baines Johnson signed into law the Economic Opportunity Act, creating Community Action Agencies across the United States to fight a "War on Poverty". The following year, a group of residents from Skamania and Klickitat Counties formed a committee for the purpose of developing a 'Community Action Agency'. WAGAP is a multipurpose human service organization dedicated to help

ing individuals, families, and communities address basic human needs. WAGAP helps people of all ages and from all walks of life. Most of the programs we operate are for low income or moderate income households as measured by federal income guidelines. Some of our clients need assistance one time to get over a rough spot, others may need ongoing help to reach their goals of self-sufficiency and independence.

WAGAP's newest donor of gorgeous garden goodies is Gargoyle Gardens from White Salmon. Bennett Silverman knew he wanted to share with the food banks before the growing season started. You can find him at the White Salmon Farmers Market and others throughout the Gorge. He brings the WAGAP food banks produce often and our clients are very appreciative!
