The following information regarding the NYSP is very disturbing. This material as well as many, many others can be found in the book, NYSP ANIMAL HOUSE.
1. Sgt. Steven Meyer's daughter Lindsey, was in a motor vehicle accident due to unsafe speed. Sgt. Meyer ordered the Trooper to amend the report and the blotter to reflect that his daughter hit a deer and a carcass was observed at the scene.
2. In 1999/2000 Tpr. Mike Turton and Tpr. D. Brown made a vehicle and traffic stop and determined that the operator was DWI. The 81 year old man was arrested and taken to SP Binghamton. When the 81 yoa man was using the iron railing to walk up the stairs, Tpr. Turton ripped the man's hand from the railing causing a large laceration. In the lobby the man asked to use the bathroom, Turton allowed him in but kept his foot in the door jam so it did not close all the way. The old man tried to shut the door several times but could not. Due to frustration, the man reached out and grabbed Turton's purple tie. Turton responded by punching the man in the face causing a severe nose bleed and probable broken nose. After the man was taken inside the station he was placed in an interview room and handcuffed to the wall, still bleeding. An ambulance arrived and the man refused treatment. The man poked the paramedic in his hand with the pen. Tpr. Turton was outraged and promptly pepper sprayed the man. Obviously this was funny to both Sgt. C. Brown and Turton because they both donned gas masks prior to re-entering the room. What an injustice. Sgt/SC Steven Meyer was advised the next day and did nothing.
3. During a period of time between 2000 and 2010 an investigator told a Trooper that he stole a ring from a house during a search. The Inv. continued on to say he was giving it to his daughter for Christmas. Sgt. Steven Meyer was advised again, and nothing was done.
4. Sgt./SC Chad Buckley was at a bachelor party where pictures were taken of him sucking a string of beads out of a dancer's as***le. How unprofessional. During 2011 Sgt/Sc Buckley was advised about a situation where a Trooper was verbally threatening another Trooper via e-mail. Several threatening e-mail's were forwarded to Sgt. Sc Buckley, who replied via e-mail " CAN'T WE ALL GET ALONG". What a racist and inappropriate response.The harassment continued until Tpr. Buchy confronted the other Trooper at SP Gateway. There Buchy yelled, kicked a garbage can, struck the other Trooper with a keyboard. He then placed his hand on his weapon while telling the other Trooper he was "GOING TO KILL HIM". ZSGT. GUILFOYLE WAS ADVISED AND DID NOTHING! What a monumental failure of supervision!!!! Z/Sgt. Steven Meyer and the Captain were advised and did nothing. A very dangerous situation.
5. Some time in late 2011 or early 2012 a state police vehicle was damaged by Tpr. Buchy (2c21), Sgt. Hopf was advised and again , did nothing. The Trooper took it upon himself to take the vehicle to a mechanic and have it welded to insure a safe condition.
6 .Inv. Joe Mccabe, who is now the Troop C EAP investigator (employee assistance program) made an inappropriate statement during the first week after 9/11, When he was asked what would you say to a person trapped under hundreds of tons of rubble, with no way to be rescued, but was hungry. Then trooper Mccabe stated he would tell that person to "EAT THEIR FINGERS". Just shocking!!!!!!!!!
7. While getting ready for a station inspection Sgt. Engler could not locate a bag and set of golf clubs that were part of the found property locker. He previously discarded this property. His solution was to buy a similar set as a replacement!!!!!!
These are a few of the many misdeeds done by members of the NYSP!!!!!!!!!!!
8. A young college student was stopped on I-84 in 2019.The Trooper explained that the young man was speeding. The young man apologized and told the Trooper that his father is a Pennsylvania State Trooper . The Trooper said alright instead of the speeding ticket, I'll give you two equipment tickets. The vehicle is a 2019 with less than 2000 miles on it. The Trooper issued a ticket for unlawful speedometer and another for no hazard lights, both illegitimate tickets!!!!! (neither of these violations existed The Trooper then had the young man follow him to a mechanic's garage where the Trooper instructed the mechanic to sign the notice of correction slips. The Trooper left and the young man was left upset and very confused. Really, seriously the Trooper was so intent on issuing tickets that he ignored the law and even broke the law!!!!!!!!!!!
9. During the late 80's to early 90's, Sgt. Meyer thought it was a good idea to play quick draw with another Trooper in the hallway of the old station. While playing with loaded guns, Meyer accidentally fired a shot that entered the floor of the building!!!!!!
10. The captain told a Trooper that was in crisis to "go ahead and kill yourself already!" What an ass hole. EJC
In the NYSP this sad but true situation still exists. Ignore the deeds and promote the incompetent, Guilfoyle Mccabe, Hopf, Buckley and Meyer!! This system of justice is broken. When , if ever, will the Assistant U.S. Attorney or the FBI get involved??
