Thank you to VINES:Volunteers Improving Neighborhood Environments and Executive Director Amelia LoDolce for showing several Land Bank Board Members and staff one of the up-and-coming VINES community gardens on Floral Avenue in Johnson City, as well as another community garden a few blocks away this morning. The Land Bank demolished the property on Floral Avenue in 2023 and transferred it to VINES. It was great to see the progress and all that VINES does for the community. We can’t wait to see the garden, with 14 raised beds, completely up and running next spring.

NEW LAND BANK LISTING. This afternoon, the Broome County Land Bank and project partners announced that 27 Columbia Avenue on Binghamton’s Southside is now available for sale through the Land Bank’s Affordable Homes Program. This is the first home fully renovated this year using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant funding from the City of Binghamton - Government, and Land Bank Initiative (LBI) funding from New York State. In total, this is the seventh home renovation using these funds.

Like other Land Bank projects rehabilitated with this funding, buyer eligibility and program guidelines can be found in the Land Bank’s ARPA Affordable Homes Program Handbook located on our website: https://broomelandbank.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/ARPA-Homeownership-Handbook-FINAL-5.4.26.pdf.

The project at 27 Columbia Avenue would not have been possible without the tremendous support of all our partners. For that, we would like to thank Mayor Jared Kraham, New York State Homes & Community Renewal, County Executive Jason Garnar, Dan J. Reynolds, Chairman & 5th District Legislator, Broome County Legislature, Senator Lea Webb, Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, Construction Management Associates, Clearview Door & Window, L2studio architecture, Delta Engineers, Architects, & Surveyors, and Sunstream Corporation.

The property is currently listed with the Land Bank’s realtor, John Farrell from EXIT Realty Homeward Bound, for $139,900, and a copy of the listing is available here: https://tinyurl.com/yc4udvm8. If you qualify under program guidelines and are interested in visiting the home or submitting a purchase offer, please contact our realtor.

SEEKING PROPOSALS: The Broome County Land Bank (BCLBC) today issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the purchase and redevelopment of 181 Hawley Street, a two-family residential building, in Downtown Binghamton.

The BCLBC is offering development incentives totaling up to $300,000 to the selected developer. As part of that incentive, the units would need to be rented to income-eligible tenants for a period of 10 years.

We’re excited to receive proposals for this property, and we strongly encourage anyone interested to contact the BCLBC to schedule a site visit.

You may find a copy of the full RFP on the Land Bank website here: https://broomelandbank.org/bids/, and the deadline to submit a proposal is Monday, August 31, 2026 at 4:00 PM.

This afternoon, the Land Bank, in partnership with Broome County Government, City of Binghamton - Government, and Broome-Tioga BOCES, announced a new and exciting pilot project here in our community.

With the financial support of the County, students in the BOCES trades programs are building two tiny homes, that the Land Bank will be placing on Truesdell Street in the City of Binghamton later this year.

The Land Bank will oversee site development, placement, and then the tiny homes will be marketed to low-to-moderate individuals for homeownership opportunities. We're proud to be part of this endeavor that not only provides new and unique housing, but also allows these students to gain real world working experience.

There are ao many people and organizations to thank, but we greatly appreciate the support and assistance of County Executive Jason Garnar, Dan J. Reynolds, Chairman & 5th District Legislator, Broome County Legislature, Mayor Jared Kraham, Broome-Tioga BOCES, L2studio architecture, Keystone Associates Architects, Engineers and Surveyors, LLC, and Construction Management Associates.

Also, if you or someone you know qualifies, and may be interested in purchasing one of these homes when they are ready, please contact the Land Bank and we can add them to our list of potential buyers to be contacted when we are ready to list them for sale.

Congratulations to the Button family on the recent closing of 170 Moeller Street on Binghamton’s Eastside!

Everyone here at the Broome County Land Bank wishes them all the best in their new home.

This is the 6th home renovated and sold through the Land Bank’s ARPA Affordable Homes Program, which is funded in partnership with the City of Binghamton. Without the assistance of our many project partners, first-time homeownership opportunities like this would not be possible.

The Land Bank would like to extend a thank you to Mayor Jared Kraham, City of Binghamton - Government, County Executive Jason Garnar, Dan J. Reynolds, Chairman & 5th District Legislator, Broome County Legislature, New York State Homes & Community Renewal, Brittany White, Construction Management Associates, Malarkey Construction LLC, EXIT Realty Homeward Bound, Delta Engineers, Architects, & Surveyors, LCP Group, Inc., and Greater Opportunities for Broome and Chenango, Inc.

2025 was another extremely successful year for the Broome County Land Bank. Yesterday, the Chairman of the Land Bank Board of Directors, Aaron Martin, and Executive Director Rob O’Donnell presented the Land Bank's Annual Report for 2025 to the County Legislature's Economic Development, Education and Culture Committee. Last year wouldn't have been successful without the support of all our partners. For that we'd like to thank Broome County Executive Jason Garnar, Dan J. Reynolds, Chairman & 5th District Legislator, the entire Broome County Legislature, and all of our state, municipal, and project partners. With such a great year last year, we're looking forward to all that 2026 has in store! To learn more, you may find a copy of the 2025 Annual Report on the Land Bank's website here: https://broomelandbank.org/public-information/.
