Members of the Binghamton Police Department were excited to witness the arrival of the legendary Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014. Known as one of the most famous steam locomotives ever built, Big Boy is a true engineering marvel that once hauled massive freight trains across the rugged mountains of the American West. Its visit to Binghamton provided a rare opportunity to experience a living piece of railroad history.

FIFA WORLD CUP 2026 WATCH PARTY
June 12TH, 2026

The Binghamton Police Department is reminding residents and visitors of the following ahead of tonight’s FIFA World Cup 2026™ Watch Party in downtown Binghamton:

Washington Street between Court and Hawley streets will be closed to vehicular traffic on Friday, June 12.

The watch party event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., with streaming of the USA vs. Paraguay game starting at 9 p.m.

Open containers will be permitted only in the designated area on Washington Street between Court and Hawley streets. This area will be standing room only, and attendees in this area must be 21 or older. No outside alcohol is permitted.

An alcohol-free watch area will be set up in the Metro Center Washington Street Mall. Chairs will be permitted in this area only.

Parking is available at the City’s parking garages at 7 Hawley St. and 183 Water St., the City-owned surface parking lot at 73 Collier St., and the normal on-street parking areas.

Today’s forecast is calling for thunderstorms to clear the area by late afternoon, with dry conditions for the event.

The Binghamton Police Department and Fire Department will be on scene providing public safety coverage of the event.

CITY OF BINGHAMTON NY POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE

June 11th, 2026

DISTURBANCE AT SOUTHSIDE HOUSING COMPLEX - BPD ARRESTS ONE MALE & RECOVERS FIREARM

On June 10th, 2026, at approximately 9:15 AM the Binghamton Police Patrol Division was called to 60 Saratoga Avenue in the City of Binghamton, Saratoga Terrace, for a report of a disturbance in which a male displayed a handgun. Upon arrival, it was quickly determined that there were no indications of shots being fired and there were no reported injuries.

A male suspect was developed and shortly thereafter, this male was observed in the area by Officers on scene. The suspect fled from Officers on foot and after a short foot pursuit, was taken into custody. This male was identified as Dontae S. Bradshaw, a 28-year-old male of Binghamton, NY.

Investigators with the Binghamton Police Detective Bureau assisted the Patrol Division on scene. Through investigation, it was determined that Bradshaw had violated a Court Order of Protection and after the disturbance, discarded a backpack at an apartment within the complex. This discarded property was located by Officers on scene.

Binghamton Police Investigators applied for and were granted a search warrant to search the contents of the recovered backpack. Inside of the backpack, Investigators located a loaded 9mm Springfield handgun with a large capacity magazine.

Bradshaw was charged with the following:

-Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, a Class C Felony
-Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (2 counts), Class D Felonies
-Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a Class E Felony
-Criminal Contempt in the 2nd degree, a Class A Misdemeanor
-Criminal Tampering in the 3rd degree, a Class B Misdemeanor

On June 11th, 2026, Bradshaw was arraigned in Binghamton City Court and remanded to the custody of the Broome County Correctional Facility.

CITY OF BINGHAMTON NY POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE
June 10th, 2026

STABBING ON BINGHAMTON’S EASTSIDE – BPD ARRESTS TWO ADULT MALES
On June 9th, 2026, at approximately 6:00 AM the Binghamton Police Patrol Division was called to the area of Court Street and Riverside Street in the City of Binghamton for a report of a male stabbed. Upon arrival, it was determined that a 19-year-old male victim had sustained two significant stab wounds; one to his back and one in the upper leg. The victim was quickly provided with aid and transported to a local hospital for further treatment. The victim is currently in stable condition, after receiving emergency surgery.

Through investigation, it was determined that two suspects had fled the scene in a white sedan prior to Binghamton Police arrival. Investigators with the Binghamton Police Detective Bureau assisted the Patrol Division on scene.

Through police investigation Investigators were able to identify one of the suspects. This suspect was identified as Christopher D. Ricketts Jr., a 19-year-old male of Binghamton, NY. The investigation determined Ricketts was later dropped off at a local hospital (arriving in the same white sedan - suspect vehicle which fled the scene). Rickets received medical treatment for a hand laceration.

With the use of Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) technology and software, Binghamton Police Investigators were able to identify the suspect vehicle, which then led to the location and identity of the second suspect, Jeremiah W. Coqmard Jr., an 18-year-old male of Johnson City, NY.

Both suspect males were taken into custody by the Binghamton Police Department and charged with the New York State Penal Law offense of Assault in the First Degree, a Class B Violent Felony. On June 9th, 2026, both suspects were arraigned in Binghamton City Court and remanded to the custody of the Broome County Correctional Facility.

BINGHAMTON POLICE ARREST JOHNSON CITY MAN FOLLOWING SUSPCIOUS INCIDENT AT RECREATION PARK
In the afternoon hours of June 2nd, 2026, the Binghamton Police Detective Bureau was made aware of a suspicious male that was at Recreation Park on the previous date, June 1st, 2026.
Through interviews it was learned that at approximately 5:30 PM on June 1st, 2026, two juveniles were approached by an unknown male while at the park. The adult male asked the children suspicious questions and offered ice cream to the juveniles. At one point during the conversation, the male suspect reached out his hand towards one of the children.
In fear of the male, the two children located the closest park employee and reported the interaction. This employee attempted to locate the male suspect, who quickly left the park in a vehicle prior to the employee speaking with him. The employee was able to take a photograph of the vehicle before the suspect fled.
In the late afternoon hours of June 2nd, 2026, Investigators with the Binghamton Police Detective Bureau were able to locate the suspect at his residence in Johnson City, New York. He has been identified as Naim Islam, a 27-year-old male of Johnson City, New York.
Islam has been charged by the Binghamton Police Department with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Class A Misdemeanors, as well as one count of Attempted Kidnapping in the Second Degree, a Class C Felony.
Islam was arraigned in Binghamton City Court on June 3rd, 2026 and remanded to the Broome County Jail.

SCAM ALERT – FRAUDULENT PHONE CALLS IMPERSONATING BINGHAMTON POLICE

The Binghamton Police Department is alerting the community to a recent scam phone call in which the perpetrator impersonated a Binghamton Police Officer.

Binghamton Police were made aware of a recent scam phone call in which the caller identifies themselves as a Supervisor with the Binghamton Police Department in an attempt to obtain personal information, identity, or money from the potential victim. In the course of this fraudulent phone call, the caller advised the potential victim that an illegal purchase had been made using the victim’s credit card and attempted to obtain additional personal information. During this call, the caller threatened criminal liability through an outside governmental agency when the victim refused to provide the requested information.

It was also reported that this fraudulent phone call is “cloning” or replicating a legitimate Binghamton Police telephone number when the call is being made.

As a reminder, the Binghamton Police Department WILL NOT require any member of the community to provide personal banking information, personal identification numbers, such as a Social Security number, or demand any type of payment over the telephone.

The Binghamton Police Department is pleased to announce the following police promotions, with the effective date as of May 09th 2026:

Lieutenant Jonathan Kellar was promoted to the rank of Police Captain

Sergeant Joshua Bedosky was promoted to the rank of Police Lieutenant

Sergeant Francis Flynn was promoted to the rank of Police Lieutenant

Police Officer - Investigator Nicholas Tokos was promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant

Police Officer Dakota Pasquale was promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant

All newly promoted members have been assigned to serve in various shifts of the department’s Patrol Division.
