Compeer of the Southern Tier

Compeer of the Southern Tier The Compeer Mentoring Program aims to improve the mental health/quality of life of adults with mental health diagnosis and at-risk youth via mentoring

The Compeer Program encourages individuals with a mental health diagnosis to build self-confidence, self-reliance, and healthy relationships by involving them in one-to-one friendships, innovative programs, and regular social contact. The Compeer Program is designed to help reduce the isolation and the feelings of loneliness experienced by many of our participants. Our goal at Compeer is to provid

e companionship, friendship, and the needed support system to help individuals feel more connected to the community. Participants are referred into the Compeer Program by their therapists, counselors, or case managers. BE A FRIEND! To volunteer:

- Call MHAST at 607.771.8888

- Discuss your interests with a Compeer staff member

- Participate in a training session

- Make a commitment to spend time with your new friend

- Be matched with a Compeer participant

This past year has been extremely challenging, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. New York State has taken a significant hit to their budget and has resulted in cuts to programs that were designed to provide mental health services to individuals in our community. One of those areas affected has been our own Compeer of the Southern Tier. Effective December 31, 2020 Compeer will no longer be available under the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier and this FB page will go dark.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to MHAST at 607-771-8888.

It has been a wonderful adventure to be a part of this program.

We will keep you in our thoughts forever. Please remember to:
