The early storms have lowered chances some, but storms remain possible this afternoon and evening. This is especially true for western portions of the area which did not see the early storms. Stay alert, as storms that form may become severe.

The lack of storms Monday night is keeping us on our toes for today's severe threat. Wind is still the main threat, but hail and a brief tornado could ruin your plans. Severe winds and hail from storms tomorrow are also possible. Keep an eye out for updates!

Today will be warm with fairly light winds. Storms are expected this evening and may last overnight. Depending on how late these storms last, tomorrow's severe risk may decrease. Storms today and tomorrow may produces large hail and damaging winds.

Our best chance for rainfall may be in store for this evening and overnight as two clusters of storms are forecast across the area. Some severe weather may be possible as well along with a conditional chance of some dust. These clusters should merge together across NW Kansas and move ENE.

Eastern Colorado has been added to the Heat Advisory for Sunday only. Remainder of the Advisory runs through Monday. Heat indices and air temperatures of 105+ degrees are forecast. The hottest day is forecast to be Sunday. Ensure humans, pets, and livestock have adequate shade and water if outdoors.

Bird City Fire Department would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Dan Blair for 20 years of dedicated service as a firefighter.

Throughout his career, Dan has demonstrated outstanding leadership and an unwavering commitment to protecting our communities. He proudly served as Fire Chief of St. Francis, Kansas, for 12 years, and in 2017 , he became the Cheyenne County Fire Chief, continuing his dedication to serving the residents of Cheyenne County.

Thank you, Dan, for your years of hard work, leadership, and selfless service. Your commitment has made a lasting impact on the fire service and the communities you have served.

We wish you all the best and thank you for your 20 years of service.
Congratulations, Dan, and thank you!

And thank you to Dan’s Wife Jennifer Blair, even though she was not on the front line she served just as well with the late night and missed family events.
