We’ve received reports of vehicles being entered in the area, so here’s your friendly reminder: Please lock your vehicles!

Remove valuables from view, take your keys/key fob with you, and double-check those doors before heading inside. Your vehicle is not a 24-hour convenience store — don’t make it easy for someone to browse. 🛒

As always, please remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police. 🚔

Congratulations to Sergeant William Seidel on his promotion. His official swearing in was 7/20/2026.

Sgt. Seidel grew up in the Birdsboro area and has raised a family there as well.

After graduating from the Reading Police Academy in 2004 (to start a 2nd career), he was a Full time Berks County Deputy Sheriff and part-time Officer with Brecknock PD before coming to work in Birdsboro in 2006.

While with the Borough, Seidel has displayed excellent character and has always aspired to become a better Officer. Seidel is the current fi****ms instructor, FTO, evidence tech and Association President. It is in that last role that he has helped Birdsboro Police have the awesome collective bargaining agreement that is second to none.

It is about time that Sgt Seidel has earned the right to wear Sergeant’s chevrons. It was my privilege as Chief of Police, to seek and obtain the Mayor’s and Borough Council’s blessing to promote (for the 1st time ever) a 2nd Sergeant within the Birdsboro Police Department.

Each of my 2 sergeants have their own squad of Officers to oversee!

Congratulations to Officer Demsko on his commendation from the Mayor for his life saving efforts.

Officer Demsko recently assisted on a EMS call involving a young adult male possibly having a seizure. Prior to arriving on location a neighbor, who is a nurse, updated the call to full cardiac arrest and stated CPR was in progress.

Officer Demsko arrived prior to EMS and he and the family and neighbor performed CPR which included placing an AED on the patient. The AED indicated a shock was needed and thus returned the patient’s heart to normal rhythm.

EMS arrived, continued medical services and transported the patient to the hospital where he eventually made a full recovery.

Awesome job to the family and neighbor for recognizing the emergency and calling 9-1-1, and to Officer Demsko for bringing his life saving knowledge and tools to the scene!!!

Birdsboro Borough Council recently approved the police department’s request to purchase new AEDs. The units in service now are at the end of their service life. With this new purchase, rest assured the Birdsboro Police will continue doing everything possible to protect and serve!!!

As an aside from the Chief of Police authoring this post: I want to extend my appreciation to all first responders for their continued dedication and life saving efforts. The Police, BUFD, EMS/ EMA etc are all among the best in the world!

The members of the Birdsboro Police Department extend our deepest condolences to the Central Berks Regional Police Department, the family of Officer Kristen Yeager, and all those mourning her loss.

Officer Yeager made the ultimate sacrifice while serving her community on May 29, 2026. We stand with her family, loved ones, and fellow officers during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Officer Yeager. We have the watch from here.

Today, our department mourns the heartbreaking loss of Officer Kristen Yeager, who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to a call for service on May 29, 2026.

Officer Yeager served our community with courage, compassion, and unwavering dedication. She answered the call to protect and serve each day, placing the safety of others above her own. Her commitment to her badge, her fellow officers, and the citizens she served will never be forgotten.

We ask that you keep Officer Yeager’s family, friends, and our entire law enforcement family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest easy, Officer Yeager. Your watch has ended, but your legacy of service and sacrifice will live on forever. We got it from here.

🚔 PA Micromobility Safety Reminder 🚴🛴

The Birdsboro Police Department would like to remind residents that officers will be enforcing Pennsylvania’s Micromobility laws to help keep our roads, sidewalks, and neighborhoods safe for everyone.

Electric scooters, e-bikes, motor scooters, pedalcycles, and similar devices all have specific rules regarding registration, licensing, helmet use, where they may be operated, and speed restrictions under Pennsylvania law.

Please review the attached PA Micromobility Information Sheet before riding. Staying informed helps protect you, your passengers, and others sharing the roadway.

Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Ride smart. Ride legal. Ride safe.
