Please be mindful of the heat index today. Stay in doors when possible. If working outside, take frequent breaks and drink plenty of water.

All of our public safety professionals enjoy meeting the residents of our town, they would just prefer not to do it after those residents pass out from the heat.

⚠️🔥 One day left of the oppressively hot and humid conditions to close out the week. A few severe thunderstorms will be possible again this afternoon and evening, but not everyone will get a storm. It will turn much less humid for Saturday, but high temperatures will remain in the upper 80s to near 90°.

If you must spend any extended time outdoors today, make sure to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks. Stay cool out there, and remain alert for changing conditions this afternoon and evening!

Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected across our region this afternoon and evening. The strongest storms may produce damaging wind gusts of 60–70 MPH, frequent lightning, and torrential downpours. The primary timeframe for severe weather is currently expected to be between 2:00 PM and 10:00 PM today.

A Heat Advisory also remains in effect until 8:00 PM tonight. Hot and humid conditions ahead of the storms may create additional stress, especially for those spending extended time outdoors.

Today’s storms are expected to begin an extended stretch of unsettled weather lasting through at least Tuesday of next week. Multiple rounds of rain may increase the risk of localized flooding and rapidly changing roadway conditions in flood-prone and low-lying areas.

Storm Safety Tips:
• Move indoors immediately if thunder is heard
• Avoid flooded roadways — never drive through standing water
• Secure outdoor furniture, umbrellas, and loose items that may become airborne in strong winds
• Charge phones and electronic devices in case of isolated power outages
• Continue monitoring trusted weather sources for updated forecasts and warnings

Please remain weather aware and stay safe this afternoon and evening.

A reminder from our friends.

A reminder from our friends.

With the nicer weather, we’re already seeing an increase in fireworks complaints around the Borough of Birdsboro.

This is a reminder that there are very few places within the Borough where consumer fireworks can legally be used, especially in residential neighborhoods.

Please keep the following Pennsylvania fireworks laws in mind:

• Fireworks may not be discharged within 150 feet of an occupied structure.

• Fireworks may not be used on borough streets, sidewalks, parks, or other public property.

• You must have permission from the property owner before using fireworks.

• Fireworks may not be discharged from or toward vehicles or buildings.

• Fireworks may not be used while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Realistically, most residential properties within Birdsboro do not meet the legal distance requirements for consumer fireworks use.

Before lighting fireworks, please take a moment to consider the space around you, your neighbors, pets, and whether you can legally and safely use them at that location.

Thank you for helping keep our community safe.
