Today at noon the sirens at the firehouse will run for 2minutes and 14 seconds in honor of Celestine’s Luke Gehlhausen unit 214.

Today, our flags will be flown at half-staff and our sirens will sound at noon as a sign of honor, remembrance, and respect.

This is part of the annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, where departments across the country pause together to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. As part of this tradition, fire departments nationwide sound their sirens at noon as a unified tribute to fallen firefighters—a long-standing symbol of respect and remembrance across the fire service.

Lowering the flag to half-staff is another powerful sign of mourning and gratitude, recognizing the lives lost and the families forever impacted by that sacrifice.

For us, this moment also carries a deeply personal meaning as we remember our friend and brother, Luke Gehlhausen. His service, dedication, and the impact he had on his department and community will never be forgotten.

When you hear the sirens at noon, we ask that you take a moment—pause, reflect, and remember those who gave everything in service to others.

Gone, but never forgotten.

In September 2025 we were awarded the Assistance to Firefighters Grant for $114,285.71 for new turnout gear. Without this grant, new gear would be impossible. Head to toe gear costs around $4,800 per fireman. We were able to purchase 25 sets of gear! A 5% match was required for this specific grant. Our volunteer firefighters depend on the communities help during our chicken dinner, shooting matches and annual picnic. A lot of hard work and time went in to this grant!
