Find A Kidney For Brian

Find A Kidney For Brian I am looking for a life changing gift of a new kidney.

Good morning everyone. Thank you very much for all the prayers and support. I am just over a week away from open heart surgery and am nervous but at the same time very grateful that Vanderbilt Medical Center found this problem that can be fixed. As most of you know I am listed at UAB and got a call from Vanderbilt this morning letting me know the transplant committee had a meeting yesterday about me and said as long as I don’t have any complications from surgery I will become active on Vanderbilt’s list 90 days after surgery.

Again thank you everyone for the support and prayers and I will update everyone after my surgery next Wednesday the 22nd.

Well my journey for a new kidney has been put on pause. I had my heart cath last week and blockage was found that will require open heart surgery. I am scheduled to have surgery on the 22nd. I am very disappointed but at the same time I feel this is a big blessing this was found before I had any issues.

I am still actively looking for a kidney and potential donors can still be screened to see if we are a match.

As always thank you for all the prayers and thank you for sharing my posts.

So a little update for everyone. I started the process to get on the transplant list for Vanderbilt in October and have just about completed all the testing that is necessary. Thru the process is was discovered that one of my arteries in my neck had blockage that had to be removed in December. The procedure went well and I have fully recovered. The last test needed is a heart cath with I will have done February 28th. I am hopeful that by sometime in March I will be active on Vanderbilt as I am already active on UAB for a kidney transplant. I want to thank everyone for the continued prayers and I’m still praying I will find someone to donate a kidney. I ask everyone to please share my story in hopes I will find a donor.

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you have regarding kidney donation.

Sorry I have not posted in a while. I am getting more comfortable talking about my kidney disease and asking for a potential donor. I am a private person and don’t like asking for help so this has been hard for me.

I am currently on the active transplant list at UAB and am in the process of trying to get on the list with Vanderbilt. The transplant list are great but can take years to get a kidney and if you can get a living kidney donor the studies show the living kidney perform better and last longer.

When you are on dialysis you have two options for treatment, the first is called peritoneal dialysis or the second opinion is called hemodialysis. Peritoneal dialysis is done thru a tube that is surgically inserted in your stomach. Hemo dialysis takes blood out of your body and runs it thru a machine to clean your blood.

I started on peritoneal dialysis and was able to do it for almost two years but unfortunately it was not working for me so I had to switch to Hemo dialysis. Hemo dialysis requires you to have an access in your body for two needles to be inserted and the most common access is called a fistula. I had a fistula created in my arm above my elbow on the inside of my arm that required two surgeries to complete.

I have been on Hemo dialysis for around four months and have been getting much better results.

Again I have o+ blood and would be truly blessed and thankful to anyone that is willing to donate. If you don’t have o+ blood you can still donate for me and do what is called a paired exchange. The program is set up so another person that is in need would get your kidney and I would get a kidney from their donor that is not a match. My insurance would cover all of the costs associated with the donation. The hospital stay is generally a day or two and most people are back to normal activities within a week.

Thanks for reading my post and the continued support.

Please message, text, or call me with any questions you may have.
