What do the new congressional maps, big tech data centers, and digital driver's licenses have in common? They are all on the ballot in Alabama! 🗳️

On the latest episode of The Advocate’s Chair, I took the show on the road to my hometown of Gadsden, AL, to sit down with State Representative Ontario Tillman! We filmed live from This is It Number One Barbecue, and let me tell you, we got down to business before we got down to the ribs. 🍖🔥

We broke down:
🗳️ The truth about gerrymandering vs. redistricting and why they are trying so hard to dilute the Black vote.
📜 Rep. Tillman’s THREE newly passed bills (including digital IDs for your Apple Wallet and protections for drivers with invisible disabilities).
🏫 What real education reform in Alabama needs to look like.
💻 The hidden environmental impact of Data Centers moving into our neighborhoods.

💛 THAT'S A WRAP! THANK YOU, SELMA!

This past Saturday, the 2026 Education Symposium brought the village together in Selma, Alabama — and it was everything we hoped for and more. 🙌🏾

We heard from keynote speaker Duncan Kirkwood. We listened as parents from the I Dream Big Chapter School shared their truth on the UNCF Parent Panel. We held city officials accountable in "Who's Calling the Shots." And our school leaders reminded us that The Village Got Something To Say.

Real conversations. Real solutions. Real community. 💛

To every attendee, panelist, partner, volunteer, and person who tuned in to the livestream — THANK YOU. You showed up, you engaged, and you proved that when we come together for our students, there's nothing we can't do.

The work doesn't stop here. We came to REFINE education, equity, and community — and now we take what we learned and turn insight into impact. 💪🏾
