There are times when our aircraft need to remain in the skies, whether it be travelling between tactical locations, or providing air support. During those long flight times they may need refueling in mid-air, and that's where you come in, as an In-Flight Refueling Specialist, or ""Boom Operator"" on a KC-135. A calm will settle over you, and your hands will remain steady as you operate the boom to provide thousands of gallons of jet fuel to your fellow airmen, at 35,000 feet. It's a challenging, yet rewarding, career field.
