The sixth and seventh grade students at the Great Malachi Wilkerson Middle School are participating in a “Bridging the Gap SWAP Day” on May 24th and May 25th in an effort for them to get acclimated for the upcoming school year. It was Game On in seventh grade! The staff dressed in their favorite NBA team jerseys. Our rising eighth graders were Sailing to the Top as they stepped aboard the WMS Success docking in Pearl Harbor, Savannah, Mobile and Houston. Both teachers and students enjoyed building positive relationships, introducing new curricula, and setting expectations for the 2021-2022 academic school year.

Creating a healthy school climate and culture is one of our top priorities to having a high impact as educators on "Teaching and Learning." So, "Just Because," is one of our administrative values as we never cease to take advantage of an opportunity to show #TeamWilkerson how much we care. It is not always the big things that matter. The little things have a greater impact.

A special shout out to Birmingham AFT President, Richard Franklin and Representative Jimmy Brown for hosting a staff luncheon on today catered by Urban Cookhouse. Shout out to Norma Stewart with The Optimist Club of Birmingham for providing snacks for our students during testing and to Assistant Principal Grace and myself who sweetened the week with some Nothing bundt Cakes.

Good Morning, when will the awards ceremony start?
Go Wilkerson!
Wilkerson is beyond proud to recognize our Chief Learning Officer, Mrs. Davida H. Johnson for representing District 5 as the 2019-2020 AAMSP Principal of the Year!
What a teachable moment during the football game last night when the team was down with little over a minute left. The principal went to the fence for cheerleaders to keep cheering. This taught that never give up until the game is over. This also applies to life NEVER GIVE UP. So guess what the team came back and won. GREAT JOB !!!!!!
The school and leadership offers a well-rounded education for our students and their families. Keep up the great work Principal Johnson to give families hope for the future.
I will be coming this year and I am so excited and confident about going to this school I have seen so many good and positive rates about this school
