Birmingham Civitan Club The Birmingham Civitan Club is a service organization founded in 1917 that emphasizes helping people with brain disorders and developmental disabilities.

The club sponsors the UAB Civitan International Research Center. The Civitan Club was founded in Birmingham, Alabama in 1917. Its founder and first president was Dr. Courteny W. Shropshire, a prominent Birmingham physician. As a result the Birmingham Civitan Club is now known as the 'Mother Club of Civitan International'. Civitan International is a worldwide community service organization of men,

women and students in 32 countries on four continents joining together to perform community service projects. VISITORS ARE WELCOME AT OUR MEETINGS.
