Just minutes from Downtown, Crestwood North’s tree-lined streets feature mid-century homes, Tudors, and craftsman-style bungalows some of which were built in the late 1800′s. Crestwood North is built upon the foundation of the Woodlawn Highlands neighborhood and is thus one of Birmingham’s oldest. In fact, the part of the neighborhood formerly known as Woodlawn Highlands is listed on the National
Register of Historic Places. Much of the part of the neighborhood not in the historic district was constructed in the post-WWII housing boom. This straddling of housing eras creates an interesting architectural and design mix that many residents take pride in. Truly a community, Crestwood North residents share a love for the City of Birmingham and our neighborhood. Many neighbors participate in regular block parties and get-togethers, often sharing information on community issues and swapping stories about the process of rehabbing historic homes. We take pride in a diverse socioeconomic populous and general openness to varying lifestyles and points of view. And through the use of various social media platforms (Facebook, Yahoo Groups, Google+, Twitter, & Nextdoor.com) Crestwood North neighbors likely share more connections with fellow residents than those in any other neighborhood in the region. These connections and communication have enabled extensive information sharing and cooperativity that has resulted in substantial improvements and organization for the benefit of the community as a whole. We also aim to leverage this extensive network of connections to pursue greater goals that we believe are attainable through shared effort and utilization of a vast array of skill sets among our residents. Thus, Crestwood North is an exciting place to live – a neighborhood which joyfully welcomes those who embrace peace, creativity, and a fun loving attitude.
