The City of Birmingham will hold a special City Commission meeting on Monday, June 22, 2026 at 6:15 p.m. The City Commission will meet in closed session to discuss a written attorney/client privilege communication. Following the special meeting, the regular City Commission meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

Participate in person at City Hall or virtually in one of three ways:
• In person on the second floor of City Hall at 151 Martin Street. Enter through the police department lobby on Pierce Street
• Participate virtually – Zoom information is at the bottom of the meeting agenda at bhamgov.org/commissionagendas.

Join us for the next In The Park summer concert as Raputa-J Geils Tribute Band faithfully and lovingly recreates the band's favorite hits in Shain Park on Wednesday, June 24, from 7 to 9 p.m., weather permitting.

Birmingham's free, family friendly In the Park outdoor summer concerts are scheduled weekly on Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. through August 26, weather permitting.

Heads up: the eastbound lane of West Lincoln Street will be closed for repairs between Cranbrook and Southfield roads from June 22 through July 3. The westbound lanes of Lincoln will remain open.

The work will start at Cranbrook Road and progress east toward Southfield Road, with additional sections of eastbound Lincoln closing to traffic as the work advances toward Southfield. Weather permitting, eastbound Lincoln is expected to fully reopen on July 4, after the new concrete has had time to cure.

Eastbound vehicles will be detoured to Fairway Drive. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time when traveling in the area. Please contact the city’s Engineering Department with questions at (248) 530-1840.

Happy Juneteenth! City of Birmingham offices are closed for the holiday today, June 19, and will reopen for business on Monday, June 22. If you’re looking for a way to mark the holiday, join the Birmingham Museum for a special Juneteenth celebration honoring Birmingham’s early Black pioneers at Greenwood Cemetery starting at noon on June 19.

Please note:
• Birmingham Ice Sports Arena, Lincoln Hills Golf Course and Springdale Golf Course are open and ready to welcome you!
• There is no change to the refuse collection schedule this week. Please have your trash at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on your regular collection day.

As always, city police and fire departments will be on duty over the holiday to ensure the community’s safety. Contact them at:
