The Birmingham Squadron had a great time touring the Southern Museum of Flight this November. There were displays, activities and even flight simulator time. The general consensus was that the entire experience was phenomenal. If you have never visited the Southern Museum of Flight, it is a must go!
The Birmingham Squadron of the Alabama Wing of Civil Air Patrol were honored to be invited to the Southern Museum of Flight's Veterans Day dinner and celebration.
Inside the Duluth International Airport stands a memorial to Major Joseph Gomer, Tuskegee Airman, who passed from this life in Duluth, Minnesota. The airport is also the base for the 148th Fighter Wing of the ANG, who were practicing some thrilling touch and go landings when I was there.
Research, travel and learn, the world is full of knowledge.
Thank you 117th ANG for hosting Birmingham, Bessemer and Springville Civil Air Patrol Squadrons and the Ramsay JROTC today for a tour of the mighty KC-135s and the personnel who keep them flying! We had a great time!
We love working on our drill commands next to the KC-135 Stratotankers (which we will be working with this weekend!). Also noticed this historical marker on base re. the 117ths sacrifice during the Bay of Pigs action.

Attention CADETS! There are still openings available for Medical Training Orientation School ().
The goal of Medical Orientation and Training School is to provide students the opportunity to learn basic life-saving techniques for ill or injured patients while exploring the many careers available in the healthcare industry. The knowledge obtained allows graduates to provide assistance in their community to a variety of emergencies until higher trained responders can arrive. Additionally, the training provides opportunities for the students to experience command and support functions as identified in the National Incident Management System and learn to work in a team environment to accomplish goals specific to the care, treatment, and extrication of injured patients.
Cadets can find more information at the following link. Ticket sales will close on July 15.

We are in the final days of being able to sign up for the Alabama Wing Conference and Banquet. I must turn in numbers to the Hotel by Monday Morning. If you have not already done so, please register as soon as possible. I would prefer it be done by midnight because we have to gather the data and put together a package for the hotel.
Thank You,
