💊Birmingham Police Department is participating in the DEA National Take Back Day on Saturday, October 24th, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Our event will be hosted by Kroger in Birmingham, located at 685 E. Maple Rd., at the intersection of Maple & Woodward Ave.

Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. That's dangerous and often tragic. Take Back Day provides an opportunity to clean out your medicine cabinets and turn in - safely and anonymously - your unused and expired prescription medications.

Help keep the community safe by stopping by our location or one of the many other events. You can find more information on what is may be collected at https://www.dea.gov/takebackday

🚨Scam Alert🚨

There is a new fraud scheme going around involving the misrepresentation of government agencies and false investigations.

The incident begins with a text message claiming to be from a bank, asking to confirm if a large ACH withdrawal has been authorized. After the individual receiving the text denies initiating the transaction, they receive a phone call from someone claiming to be an FBI investigator. The 'investigator' sends fabricated screenshots and report numbers, convincing the victim to assist with a supposed investigation into the bank staff.

The victim is instructed to withdraw a large sum of money, place it in an envelope, and hand it directly to someone posing as an FBI courier. This is a significant concern for safety.

Scammers may impersonate banks, law enforcement, and government agencies to gain your trust and steal your money. Never withdraw or hand over money to someone claiming it is necessary for an investigation. If you receive a suspicious call or message, stop communicating and contact the bank or agency using an official, verified phone number.
