The North Smithfield Manor Greenleaf Heights Community held a meeting to discuss the need for fire protection. Florence of Jefferson County Alabama signed into place the North Smithfield Manor Greenleaf Heights Volunteer Fire Department abd Board. The community members made a commitment to pay for quality firefighting equipment. Members of the newly formed fire department immediately went to work purchasing equipment and training.

Temperatures will climb this weekend and continue rising into next week. Heat indices could top 105 degrees from Sunday through Wednesday creating extremely dangerous conditions.
Please limit outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day, check in on elderly neighbors and anyone with special needs, and make sure pets stay indoors as much as possible.
And seriously—never leave children, pets, or anyone else in a parked car for any amount of time. Not even for a minute. We shouldn't have to say that, but....every.....single.....year............
