Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting a Visiting Allocations Team Meet & Greet, thank you to all the dedicated volunteers who joined us! The event provided a great opportunity for volunteers to connect with United Way staff and discuss the responsibilities of being a VAT member.

A Visiting Allocations Team is a group of committed volunteers who assist United Way in determining which community programs will receive funding. Members review program proposals, participate in site visits and make recommendations based on their findings.

Our very own Doug Horst, Director of Financial Stability Services here at UWCA, was featured on ABC 33/40 discussing the rising credit card debt crisis.
His advice? Always make at least the minimum payment and consider credit counseling if you're struggling.

Today, we are thrilled to highlight Chris Sahawneh, one of our Loaned Executives from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, where he serves as a Senior Accountant. When asked about what inspired him at UWCA, he shared,"You all inspire me. From everyone I have had interactions with, I can tell that this is not just another job for them. They all believe in UW and its mission and the work we all are doing to serve the community. I think my role would be a lot more difficult if there was not this buy in."

Reflecting on his experience, Chris noted, "Being able to see our dollars in action by going to see the partner agencies and meeting the various staff for UW's direct service makes me want to get out into the community and do more."

Thank you, Chris, for your dedication and hard work!
