Our oldest National Transgender Awareness Week Ambassador, Teryl Lynn Foxx , is not only making history with TAKE Resource Center; she is also celebrating an incredible milestone: RETIREMENT after 20 years of dedicated service at Lowe’s! 🎉👏🏾
This moment is absolutely beautiful. When we think about the challenges Black trans women have historically faced simply trying to live, thrive, and grow older, Teryl-Lynn’s journey deserves to be celebrated LOUDLY. She continued to beat the odds, show up, serve the public, and make a difference in her community; one smile at a time. Teryl-Lynn, we are giving you your flowers while you are here to receive them! 🌹 Congratulations on 20 years of service and your retirement. Kudos to you, Queen!.We can’t wait to honor and celebrate you again this November during National Transgender Awareness Week!

Happy International Drag Day! 🌈✨

As we celebrate International Drag Day, we must remember where so much of this history began, with the vision, creativity, and resilience of Black and Brown LGBTQ+ pioneers. The first known drag balls in the United States were held in Harlem during the 1920s at the Rockland Palace. These events featured extravagant performances by gay men and le****ns impersonating the opposite s*x while competing in fashion and performance. Harlem's drag balls were largely created by and for people of color. While white people were not excluded, they were not the primary participants. These gatherings provided community, joy, and a safe space for people living on the margins of society; often meeting in secret because they were denied the freedom to live openly. As we celebrate today, let's continue learning about the many subcultures within the LGBTQ+ community. Ballroom, drag, and pageantry have long been more than entertainment; they have created opportunities for people to experience joy, build confidence, earn income, and find chosen family. That's one of the reasons I brought back the Platinum International Icon Pageantry as part of the programming at TAKE Resource Center. It's about preserving our history, celebrating our culture, and creating opportunities for our community to thrive. I'm also excited to launch our monthly Sensational Sundays showcase! Stay tuned for details about our August show, and don't forget to join us on August 30th for The Revival at the Platinum International Icon competition. Let's continue honoring our history, celebrating our artistry, and uplifting one another. I hope to see you there!

We would like to take this time to officially introduce TAKE Resource Center's 13th National Transgender Awareness Week Ambassador for 2026, Teryl-Lynn Foxx, all the way from New Orleans, Louisiana!As we prepare to celebrate our 13th year of National Transgender Awareness Week, it is truly an honor to have Teryl-Lynn serve as this year's ambassador. As a respected trans elder in our community, she has dedicated her life to uplifting voices, creating visibility, and educating the world on the importance of transgender existence, resilience, and liberation.
We look forward to celebrating and honoring her in the Magic City during National Transgender Awareness Week, November 14–20, 2026.Please help us show her love, support, and appreciation. This is a significant title that carries the responsibility of representing our community, preserving our history, and inspiring future generations.

Congratulations, Teryl Lynn Foxx ! We are excited to celebrate your legacy, leadership, and impact.

Nothing is going to interrupt this celebration! A little rain never hurt anybody, and we know that after every storm, the rain passes and the sun shines again.
So come on out and join us for a day of love, laughter, and community. We refuse to let anything dampen our spirits because this is a celebration.
