UPDATE:

The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 was passed and extended the period for collecting deferred 2020 Social Security taxes. The period for collection is now January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021 (instead of January 1, 2021 to April 30, 2021).

DFAS will update their website and send communications to the affected workforce explaining the changes made by the Act.

At the end of December, the 2020 Social Security tax deferral will end. Beginning January 2021, the normal 6.2% Social Security tax withholdings will again be deducted from pay for military members and civilians, and an additional deduction for the deferred 2020 Social Security tax collection taken from pay.

Please take a moment out of your day in remembrance of those service members who came under attack this day in 1941. Let us not forget the rampant distraction from the attack that ultimately led to WWII.

"No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory," - President Franklin D. Roosevelt, delivered Dec. 8, 1941.

On the date Roosevelt said, "which will live in infamy," nearly 2,400 #Americans lost their lives, Dec. 7, 1941, when Japanese bombers attacked Pearl Harbor.

November Edition of know your Sustainer. This month we would like to recognize SFC (P) Hickman from DCMA-ARE.
SFC John Hickman, Senior Acquisitions NCO for DCMA-ARE West, is being recognized for his outstanding support both during the Command’s Annual Training at Operation Rhino II and supporting the Acquisition Support Center’s Accessions Board. SFC Hickman is a certified instructor for the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT), and utilized his knowledge and skills to virtually brief the Command in detail during OP Rhino II. Over the course of one day, SFC Hickman detailed the preparation required, the sequencing of events, standards and proper execution, and even detailed helpful exercises that would ensure the Command is fully prepared to execute this new fitness requirement. For the Acquisition Support Center, SFC Hickman helped establish criteria to determine acceptance into the Reserve Acquisition Corps, and utilizing his Acquisition experience, played a pivotal role in reviewing and accepting new applicants into the Acquisition Corps. His dedication to the unit is exemplary, and we recognize him for her performance above and beyond for this quarter for DCMA-ARE.

Thanks SFC Hickman for leaning forward in the foxhole in your efforts.

ARSC would like to recognize the efforts of the 644th and their support of the 408th. The team hit the ground running in July 2020, just in time for some extraordinary heat and exciting end of year contracting, executing 31 contract actions and over $19.8 million in less than two months in FY20. SFC Richardson received a $5 million warrant and SSG Roberson was awarded an AAM for excellence in contracting. MSG Hall was selected to serve as the RCC-KU battalion Senior Enlisted Advisor and MAJ Reyes was selected as the brigade Executive Officer of the 408th CSB. Feel free to give the team your thanks and congratulations on a mission well done.

A Storm Surge Warning is in effect for...
* Sabine Pass to Ocean Springs, Mississippi including Calcasieu
Lake, Vermilion Bay, Lake Pontchartrain, Lake Maurepas, and Lake
Borgne

A Hurricane Warning is in effect for...
* East of Sabine Pass to Morgan City, Louisiana

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for...
* East of Morgan City, Louisiana to the mouth of the Pearl River,
including New Orleans
* Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas

Hurricane Delta is continues to get better organized and stronger this morning. Winds are now up to 105 mph (Category 2). The strengthening will continue all day and Delta is expected to become a Category 3 hurricane later today. The wind field will be expanding today as Delta moves to the NW across the warm Gulf waters.

It will make a turn to the north later today as a trough of low pressure over Texas pulls it northward. A few rain bands will move across SE Louisiana and some of them could have tornadoes starting tonight. The trough will then pull Delta north toward SW Louisiana on Friday. Delta will move over some slightly cooler waters and this will help to weaken it back down to a Category 2 at landfall Friday afternoon/evening along the southwest Louisiana coast.

The track has shifted a bit more west with this update and more toward SW Louisiana. The hurricane is likely to be a big storm and moving quickly. It will not be able to weaken a lot over the cooler waters, so the impacts will still be a problem for all of the Louisiana coast.

⚠️LA Impacts: It is still too soon to pinpoint the exact impacts, but SE LA needs to plan for:
-STORM SURGE:
•Pecan Island, LA to Port Fourchon, LA including Vermilion
Bay...7-11 ft.
•Cameron, LA to Pecan Island, LA...4-7 ft.
•Port Fourchon, LA to Ocean Springs, MS including Lake
Borgne...2-4 ft.
•Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas...2-4 ft.

-️WINDS:
Strong winds of 30-40+ mph inland with higher winds/gusts over the coast.

-️HEAVY RAIN
Rain totals around 1-2”+. Higher amounts can be expected in Baton Rouge and the farther west you travel.

⚠️Now is the time to be prepared. There is still some time to prepare your homes and pick up all of your Halloween decorations so they don't blow away. Please check back for updates here and on WWLTV. Please stay safe everyone. -Dave
