These individuals are wanted for questioning in two felony cases:
1. Unlawful breaking/entering motor vehicle
2. Fraudulent use of credit card
The car break-in occurred on Country Club Drive between the hours of 2:00pm-3:30pm on 09/29/2019. The victim’s credit card was then subsequently used at Target Hwy 280 to make over $1,200 in fraudulent charges. Suspect vehicle is unknown.

The Jefferson County Metro Area Crime center proactively protects area citizens by bringing investigators together from multiple jurisdictions to share information and criminal intelligence. This allows participating agencies to more effectively keep communities and neighborhoods safe. Shared space, knowledge of criminals, and their patterns of operations across jurisdiction lines allows our law enforcement officers to quickly identify, locate and apprehend criminals. Without this inter agency cooperation criminals would be able to operate across jurisdictional lines victimizing citizens of multiple communities. This early intervention prevents future crimes and reduces the number of citizens that would become crime victims.

Deputies were dispatched to the 1100 Block of Utica Place in Birmingham on a report of an active shooter. Deputies arrived on scene and requested the Air Support Unit and K9 to assist in locating the suspect. A perimeter was set and Star 1 was able to identify and maintain a visual on the suspect to lead Deputies to take him into custody. Ronnie Colvin was charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, assault 3, menacing, and reckless endangerment totaling $40,000. He had additional outstanding warrants of failure to appear, attempting to elude, and public intoxication. He is held under a no bond in the FTA.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office needs help identifying theft suspects. The theft happened on 4/3/19 in the Pawnee Village area. The suspects took over $2000.00 worth of wheels and batteries. If you recognize this individual please contact Sgt. Dotson at 205-856-8800.
This suspect was caught on a doorbell camera stealing a package from the front porch of a McCalla subdivision. If you recognize this suspect or car, please contact the MACC at 205-582-6800 or Sgt. Guinn at 205-481-4210.
Deputies responded to the 2000 Block of Parsons Loop in Mulga on a report of a domestic violence situation in which a male was pouring lighter fluid on the front porch of a home and threatening to set it on fire. The individual is known to flee the scene and hide in the woods prior to Deputies arriving. Dispatch information indicated this individual was also armed with a knife. Deputies arrived on scene and the suspect had in fact fled the area. Star 1 was on scene within minutes. Star 1 quickly identified a hot spot in the woods near the area of interest and safely guided Deputies in to take him into custody.
Star 1 continues to show how invaluable the Air Support Unit is. Deputies were dispatched to multiple suspects shooting at each other in the 300 Block of 20th Ave NE in Centerpoint. A green suv was described as having multiple suspects in the vehicle. Star 1 arrived on scene and observed the vehicle drive to a dead end where multiple suspects exited and ran in different directions. Star 1 was able to stay on target of 2 individuals and pointed Deputies directly and safely to their location. A short time later, by standers identified two other possible suspects and Star 1 was able to positively identify those individuals as well as bailing out of the suspect vehicle.
On 2/4/2019 Deputies responded to the 5200 Block of Highland Ave on a report of a person stealing items from a home. Star 1 quickly responded and began searching the area for suspects. One suspect was spotted hiding in the woods to avoid capture. Star 1 was able to identify the location of the suspect and safely guide in the Patrol Deputy to apprehend the suspect.
The MACC helicopter was on routine patrol when ground units requested assistance in the Sylvan Springs area. Ground units were responding to a domestic violence call where the offender normally flees on foot from Deputies when they respond. As patrol units arrived at the front of the house, the suspect fled out the back. With help from Star 1 and local civilian dogs, the offender was captured a short distance away. #MACCIMPACT
The Jefferson County Metro Area Crime Center is excited to announce that we now have a fully functional law enforcement helicopter. It is a Airbus AStar B3, fully equipped with all the technology needed to capture fugitives, follow fleeing vehicles, locate missing children or elderly citizens. While we have been training with the helicopter for several weeks, we captured our first offender today in the Mount Olive area. This Air Support Unit is available to all of our MACC law enforcement partners. Video of the first capture is imbedded below.
