This survey uses the general description of a data center as a building or group of buildings used to house computer systems, particularly components for telecommunications and storage... but while the USA has over half of the listed 11,800 data centers worldwide, the platform doesn't include the sizes and some may have much higher storage capacities than others.

A quick in observance of National Radio Day this past Tuesday. Radio appears to still be going strong globally, at least for now, with a key reason being the daily commute -- the survey estimated 65% of all radio listening took place via car or standalone radios.

Although streaming music accounted for roughly 67% of all recorded music globally last year, sales of physical media were at their highest level since 2016. Luminate estimated 2023 US physical album sales at 87 million units, while RIAA estimated about 80 million.

Students from Howard College's first summer school, June 7th, 1915 (109 years ago tomorrow). The school for teachers was run in conjunction with the summer school.
According to the Bureau of Labor, almost half of all new jobs expected by the end of this projection period will be in the healthcare and social assistance sectors. However, transportation and warehousing is also expected to be strong over the same period.
The Samford University Library will be closed on Monday, May 27th in observance of Memorial Day as we remember and honor the brave souls who gave their lives in service to our country. We will close at 5:00 pm today and will re-open at 7:30 am on Tuesday, May 28th.
While construction is going at full speed on campus this summer, here's a pic of staff members in what we think may be the University Center under construction in 1971. We don't know why they aren't wearing hard hats either.
