We’re kicking off Southbound Food Festival🍴 a little early by investing in the future of food & beverage👩‍🍳

This morning, a few of our Dames joined students for Future Culibarians Day, an inspiring morning designed to introduce the next generation to careers in the culinary world. Students heard from Chef Roscoe Hall about his story & journey in the industry, enjoyed a chef demonstration & got the chance to learn from leaders who are helping shape the future of food.

A special thank you to Dame Dulce Victoria Rivera for joining a panel coordinated by Dame Rebecca Lemelin Gann & to Dame Chanda Temple for being there to support this incredible program.

A fun evening celebrating Birmingham’s incredible food and beverage community at the kickoff of Magic City Sips!

Magic City Sips is a promotional network supported by the City of Birmingham’s economic development office, created to build community and help more people discover the amazing bars and restaurants our city has to offer.

We were especially proud to see our Dames represented! The fabulous food for the evening was catered by our own Dame Lindsey Noto of FEAST Catering, with Dames Chanda Temple , Leigh Sloss-Corra, Anne Byrn, and Lindsey Noto King joining the celebration.

LDEI Birmingham was pleased to join the Kiwanis Club for a conversation about the state of Birmingham’s restaurant industry.

Dames Leigh Sloss-Corra Leigh Sloss-Corra , Emily McDaniel Emily Lewis McDaniel , and Billie Jo Waara Billie Jo Waara shared their perspectives on our city’s evolving restaurant community, the opportunities and challenges facing the industry, and the important role food and hospitality continue to play in Birmingham.

A special thank you to our Dames Joy Smith Joy Smith , Ashley McMakin Ashley Deaton McMakin, Laura Zapalowski Homewood Gourmet and Billie Jo Waara who also provided the delicious food enjoyed during the presentation.

We appreciate the Kiwanis Club Kiwanis Club of Birmingham for the invitation and the opportunity to share the knowledge and experience of Les Dames d’Escoffier Birmingham with our community.

Dame Leigh Sloss-Corra paid a visit to one of our Grant recipient Ana Araujo La MoreliAna Bakery at The Pizitz Food Hall.

Leigh found multiple flavors of très lèches that made her choosing just one a challenge! She bought also conchas, Mexican sweet bread and a selection of cookies - yum!

PS - Ana makes custom cakes for special occasions too - sweet!

*76 Scholarships awarded to help women pursue their education and dreams.

* 31 Entrepreneurial Grants supporting women-owned businesses and new ventures.

*Nearly $300,000 invested in women across Alabama, fueling opportunity and growth in our communities.

* Mentorship and Outreach Programs that guide, inspire, and empower.
