Concerned voters in Jefferson County are calling for transparency and a full review of issues reported during the Tuesday, May 19, 2026 election in Alabama House District 57 (HD57).
Many voters, poll watchers, and community members have raised concerns regarding election procedures, voter access, and confidence in the integrity of the process. Citizens are requesting that county and state election officials fully investigate these concerns and publicly provide answers.
Voters are also asking questions about the reported turnout numbers in HD57 compared to prior elections. According to publicly reported totals being discussed by community members, approximately 3,905 more voters participated in the 2026 primary election in HD57 compared to the 2022 election, and candidate Sellers reportedly received 3,091 of those additional votes. Community members are requesting a full public explanation of these numbers and verification that all votes were properly cast, counted, and reported according to Alabama law.
We respectfully request that Probate Judge Yashiba Blanchard and election officials investigate:
1. Whether all procedures involving curbside voting or assisted voting were conducted in compliance with Alabama election law and county procedures.
2. Whether any prohibited electioneering or improper campaign activity occurred inside or near polling locations.
3. Whether any unauthorized handling of ballots occurred.
4. Whether poll workers and election officials maintained required neutrality and complied with all applicable election procedures.
We also respectfully request:
1. A formal investigation into all HD57 polling locations and reported incidents.
2. Copies of all incident reports, chain-of-custody logs, machine audit logs, and poll worker reports related to these precincts.
3. Copies of precinct result tapes and supplemental reports.
4. Identification of election officials and poll workers involved in the handling of voting equipment and ballots.
5. Confirmation that all Alabama election procedures and county protocols were followed.
Voters deserve transparency, accountability, and confidence that every lawful vote was counted fairly and accurately.
