Bishop Hill Old Settlers' Association Old Settlers' Assoc was established in 1896 to commemorate the founding of the Bishop Hill Colony

We are the oldest active organization in Bishop Hill at 125+ yrs strong! Each year the Old Settlers' sponsors events centered toward Family:

April - 5k Swedish Stomp and Skamparoo
July - Antique and Classic Car show in the village park
Sept - Old Settlers' Day (Parade every 5 years)
Ag Days Stew
Nov - Cookie Walk on Thanksgiving weekend at the Colony School

Profits from these events are used to maintain and preserve a key building in the village - the Colony School

Bishop Hill Old Settlers’ Association has organized a full weekend of events in celebration of the 180th anniversary of the Bishop Hill, IL Colony founding of 1846. Save off the Event Schedule!

Saturday, Sept 12th is a full day of family friendly activities that include:
✏️ caricature drawings by Draw Me Bill
🎤 5-year Parade around the park,
🍽️ pay at the door chicken dinner at the Colony School ($15 donation),
🎶 music and program in the park featuring descendant speakers (bring chairs), followed by birthday cake at the Colony School 🎂.

Also featured:
📚Authors Brita Butler-Wall and Lilly Setterdahl
Live music acts: Bishop Hill High Society Band 🎺🥁, harpist Deirdre Light🪉, accordionist Fiona Light 🪗, and nyckelharpist Lisa Horngren.
