On State Route 168 W (W. Line Street) from Fowler Street to U.S. 395, the road remains fully closed while the City of Bishop replaces its water line. There will be intermittent lane closures between Pa Ha Lane and Red Hill Road too. Work is scheduled 24 hours a day Monday through Friday. Detours are available.

Parents, please be advised: students from area schools and programs should use an alternate route to avoid open trenches up to 11 feet deep on W. Line Street.

Throughout District 9 and the State of California, there is an underground world that Caltrans crews are responsible for maintaining.

Drainage and culvert systems keep our roadways safe while we experience extreme weather conditions such as snow and rain in the Sierra. These systems are constantly changing due to construction, storms, and debris.

Damage to drainage systems can cause serious harm to the roadways, leading to unsafe driving conditions and closures. To address this, our District 9 maintenance crews stay up-to-date with monitoring and mapping drainage throughout the district by employing a robot to assist in inspections.
