Good afternoon everyone! Unfortunately, a decision was made that Central Dakota Safety Association is not able to function as a full organization any longer. We have truly been fortunate that we were able to keep this great group until this year. With membership declining and lack of interest in holding board positions, we are not able to push this organization forward. Luckily, there are other options if you would like to continue to be part of other safety associations. Many of us are already members of ASSP, but for those that are not, I’ve included a link https://store.assp.org/PersonifyEbusiness/Membership/Join-ASSP. Leif Schonteich is the chairperson and would be happy to visit with you if you decide this is the direction you would like to go [email protected]. Central Dakota Human Resources Association CDHRA, is another organization that focuses on Human Resources with networking and professional development https://cdhra.shrm.org/.

The website has been taken down and any remaining assets, if any, will be distributed to a foundation, fund or other organization that mostly supports the mission of the CDSA. Please reach out to Christie Fletcher [email protected] or me with any questions.

Thank you to all of our members and all of the contributions you have made for this wonderful group.

To say a company has evolved implies that it has adapted, transformed, become more efficient, and quick to identify next steps. That’s what’s happening at KLJ. As we approach our 80-year anniversary, we looked back – from a small company working across the Dakotas, to engineering infrastructur...

Hey team! This is such a great initiative – I did receive more information about Vision Zero from Dan Donlin so I wanted to pass this along. Don’t forget to RSVP www.cendaksafety.com – See you tomorrow!!

In January 2018, Governor Doug Burgum, the North Dakota Department of Transportation, North Dakota Highway Patrol, and North Dakota Department of Health came together to launch Vision Zero: Zero fatalities. Zero excuses. The Vision Zero strategy aims to establish a culture of personal responsibility where motor vehicle fatalities and serious injuries are recognized as preventable and not tolerated.

Vision Zero will be implemented through various safety strategies including: (1) widespread public education/outreach, (2) working with the legislature to ensure state laws represent best practices in traffic safety, (3) high visibility enforcement of existing laws, (4) technology advancements and (5) infrastructure/road safety improvements.

We are asking every driver and vehicle occupant in North Dakota to help us meet the Vision Zero goal of zero motor vehicle fatalities and serious injuries on North Dakota roads by taking personal responsibility when traveling. This means always wearing a seat belt, transporting children in child passenger safety seats appropriate for the child’s age, height, and weight, driving distraction free, driving sober (i.e. not under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs), and obeying all posted speed limits and all other traffic laws.

The Vision Zero goal of zero fatalities and serious injuries is attainable and vital. When it comes to your life and the lives of your family and friends, is any other number acceptable? Let us all arrive at our destination safely by each taking a role in Vision Zero.

The right shoes or boots can make a world of difference! They provide support and protection so there are many things to consider when choosing the proper footwear. We were lucky enough to have a local expert come in and show us what to look for.

10/03/2018

Come one, come all! Mark Garnter from Capital Shoe Hospital is going to talk about footwear and how it can make such a huge difference! Join us at the Elks at noon. Mark will be conducting a hand on experiment on boot fitting.

Jordan Axtman will be speaking to our group about cyber/internet security and how we can protect ourselves from possible identity theft. This is such a relevant topic in today’s society and well worth our time. Please take the time and opportunity to reach out to co-workers and anybody you feel that would benefit from this meeting. Another big announcement: the North Dakota Safety Council has agreed to host our April 4th meeting, which is another good reason to accompany our guests to this meeting.

Please join us at 11:45 and enjoy lunch and learning at the new NDSC’s campus - 1710 Canary Avenue, Ste. A, Bismarck, ND 58501. It is extremely important to RSVP as a box lunch will be delivered. Thank you to everyone who makes it possible for us to continue in the organization.
Please RSVP at www.cendaksafety.com . See you on the 4th!

We are very excited to announce that we will be hosting Rick Boehm, Chief Pharmacist of Thrifty White to speak to our group about the growing opioid epidemic and the Take Back Program. We encourage all of you to bring a guest to this event. This topic affects everyone, business or personal. Please help us in creating a positive impact in our community and reach out to work mates, friends and acquaintances and invite them to join you for this particular meeting. Thanks and have a great day everyone. Stay safe out there.

Please join us at 12 noon, maybe even a little earlier so that you can grab your food, at the Elks- back room, upstairs, on March 14th. Please RSVP at www.cendaksafety.com and I hope to see everyone next week.

Central Dakota Safety Association is in dire need of at least one other person to step up as a Board Member at Large. This is not a large commitment, typically just a couple of hours a month at most. If the Board does not receive any new members the Association may need to dissolve. The Board is committed to trying to keep this Association going as we understand the importance of this networking and knowledge the Association brings to our profession; however, without your help we will be unable to keep the Association running.

If you are able to help us with joining the board, please reach out to myself or any of the other Board Members.

01/09/2018

Good afternoon everyone! We will have 2 board seats available at the end of March. Micheal Farley’s term is up and he will not be running for re-election. Keith Schmaltz is a member at large and is also stepping down. He will not be joining us for another year. Micheal is currently serving as the secretary/treasurer. The other board members are not able to take on the additional responsibilities of that position at this time. We are looking to our great membership and community to find somebody that would be able to join our amazing team. If you or somebody you know might be willing to join the team, please let us know. This is an important organization and I really see a bright future, but we need to help to continue to educate ourselves, our businesses and our communities. Please bring any questions to our meeting tomorrow. See you all tomorrow!
