💜🩵 PANTHERS ON THE MOVE: LEARNING. LEADING. GROWING. 🩵💜

We are incredibly proud to celebrate an AMAZING milestone for Lee Woodard Elementary! For the 2025–2026 school year, Lee Woodard earned a “B” school performance grade for the very first time—and we EXCEEDED GROWTH! 🎉📈

⭐ Earned a “B” for the FIRST TIME!
📈 Exceeded Growth for the 7th YEAR IN A ROW!
🏆 Top 16% for growth in the state!
🔥 Highest EVAAS growth in Wilson County Schools!

These results are the result of intentional instruction, hard work, collaboration, perseverance, and a team that believes in every single Panther.

We celebrated with B balloons, homemade Hershey “Bar” Cake, “Bugles”, “Blow-pops”, and a key chain that says “B-cause we B-lieved, we B-came a B school!”

THANK YOU to our teachers and staff for the countless hours, dedication, and heart you pour into our students every day. Thanks also to our students for doing the work, rising to the challenge, and continuing to make us proud! 💜🩵

🦆☀️ Another BIG week of Duck Adventures for our Panthers!

Our ducks have been everywhere—from the beach, lake, pool, library, science museum, summer camps, and Marbles in Raleigh to the Mt. Olive Pickle Company, Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge, Larema Coffee Shop, Burger King, and the Arts Council! One family even made it to the lake but, somehow, the duck got left behind! 😂

Our Panthers have been reading to cousins, getting their very first library cards, exploring museums and historical sites, learning about animals, finding shapes and angles, estimating restaurant costs, and even introducing their ducks to goats, sheep, and REAL ducks! 🐐🐑🦆

We’ve also seen some amazing examples of responsibility, kindness, and service—helping cook dinner (including frosting a birthday cake! 🎂), pushing a brother’s stroller every day, shopping for back-to-school supplies for a church mission project, and participating in Vacation Bible School.

Our creative Panthers finished another week of art camp and even displayed their creations in a special gallery for their families! 🎨 Others explored science at summer camp, enjoyed favorite hobbies, relaxed by watching a science show, and celebrated making it through TEN WEEKS of summer camp! 👏

Another Panther was caught reading to his cousin, another Panther explored the Tom Braswell math/physics-themed exhibition, and our Panthers kept finding new ways to turn everyday moments into learning adventures.

We LOVE seeing our Panthers learn, serve, explore, create, and make memories with their ducks! 🐾🦆💜

🎉 What an AWESOME Open House! 🐾💜🩵

Our Panthers kicked off the school year with so much excitement, energy, and Panther pride! We loved seeing so many of our families come through our doors, meet teachers, visit classrooms, and get ready for an incredible year together.

A HUGE thank you to all of our families for coming out and making our Open House so special! Your partnership means so much to us, and we are so excited for all that this year will bring.

Here’s to a year of Learning, Leading, and Growing together! 🐾📚✨

🦆☀️ Another week of amazing Duck Adventures!

Our Panthers have been making the most of these final weeks of summer—learning, reading, helping, exploring, and having FUN!

Alles is 196 pages into Popcorn, her third Battle of the Books book this summer! 📚 She doesn’t even keep track of her reading time—she simply reads because she loves it! ❤️ Another Panther completed the Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Challenge and earned a FREE new book!

Our adventures included pickleball, fishing trips with grandparents, a Warbirds game with a foul ball, a trip to Florida, beach days, a touch-and-feel aquarium, and even holding a ball python! 🐍🏖️🎣⚾

We also had lots of learning and responsibility happening! Panthers made their beds, wrote thank-you notes, emptied the dishwasher, helped feed farm animals, and completed a 20-day Summer Bridge workbook. One family even made time for a fun day at Happy Feet and enjoyed some boba and doughnuts along the way! 🥰

We love seeing our Panthers finding ways to keep learning and growing all summer long. And most importantly, we’re seeing reading, responsibility, family time, and learning become part of everyday adventures! 🐾🦆📚

Keep those duck pictures coming—we’re almost to the end of our Summer Duck Adventure, and we can’t wait to see what happens next!

Today was our staff’s first day back, and we kicked off the new school year with an amazing opening meeting! We spent the day reflecting, connecting, and making our commitments to Learning, Leading, and Growing.

Our team is ready to bring Purposeful Excellence to everything we do and make this year one to remember for our students! 📚✨

I’m so proud of this team and so excited to see what lies ahead for Lee Woodard Elementary! 🐾

🦆☀️ Another week of amazing Duck Adventures!

Our Panthers have been learning, exploring, and discovering new things right here in our own community! 🐾

One family visited The Roundhouse Museum in Wilson, learning about Oliver Nestus Freeman and the homes he built for returning African American soldiers after WWII. They discovered how he traveled to Africa to learn building techniques and used unique materials like river rocks, glass bottles, cement, and cloth to create his homes. They also explored the museum’s exhibits highlighting African Americans and their contributions to history. What a wonderful local history adventure—and it’s FREE! ❤️

Our Panthers also took their learning around the world by exploring Jamaica through food! 🇯🇲 They visited a Jamaican market, learned about the culture, played Two Truths and a Lie, and made fufu and brown stew chicken. They even learned that fufu is used to scoop up the food! And the best part? They discovered new places and experiences right here in Wilson that they had never explored before. 🥰

Our math and science explorers went on a nature shape scavenger hunt, counting five-pointed star-shaped leaves and adding their totals. Another student measured a tiny frog that wasn’t even half an inch long! 🐸📏

And of course, there was plenty of summer fun—swimming, cooking, building with LEGOs, and even a magical trip to Disney with Mrs. Sarmento’s duck! 🏰🦆 One of our Panthers is getting ready for Halloween! Mrs. Mangun celebrated her birthday with her duck, too! 🎂

We absolutely LOVE hearing how these adventures are encouraging our Panthers to try new things, explore their community, ask questions, and learn together with their families. That’s what the Duck Adventure Challenge is all about! 💙

Keep those pictures coming! We can’t wait to see what adventures our Panthers and their ducks discover next! 📸🦆☀️
