Black Eagle Fire Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Lila Pfeiffer as our new Public Information Officer.

Lila will be serving in a volunteer capacity, supporting the department by coordinating public communications, enhancing community outreach, and making sure our community gets clear, timely information about what’s happening around the department.

You’ll start seeing more updates about training, calls, community involvement, and the people who make BEFD who we are as she settles into the role and works with our crew.

Weekly Training Update:
After a busy weekend of wildland fires, Black Eagle Firefighters and new applicants spent this week cleaning, reorganizing, checking inventory, and servicing air filters on our brush trucks — a little TLC to keep us ready for whatever comes next. Our crew stays committed to staying prepared and serving our community with pride.

If you’ve ever thought about joining BEFD, come hang out with us! We train every Tuesday at 7 PM and you’re invited to stop in, meet the crew, and see what we do.

Applications are only available in person during Tuesday training nights, so stop in, ask questions, and get started. Come check it out and learn how you can serve your community.

On August 2nd,2026, we also had a 23 acre fire that some other members of our crew responded to. It was out off of Bootlegger Trail, cross of Wilson Road. It ended up burning into the burn from the day before, down into the coulee’s and across the field. Thank you to all of the mutual aid agencies who assisted in containing the fire.

Agencies involved:, Black Eagle FD, Vaughn FD, Sun Prairie FD, Manchester FD, Gore Hill FD, MANG, and a private water truck.

August 2nd,2026: The Middle Coulee Fire near Floweree in Chouteau County.

Black Eagle Fire Department responded as one of several mutual‑aid agencies assisting Carter Fire with yesterday’s widespread wildland fire (estimated 500 acres). After hours of work across tough terrain, the fire was successfully contained.

We’re grateful for the strong coordination between all departments on scene and for a community that stays alert during high fire danger. Please continue to follow local burn restrictions and report smoke or fire immediately.

Agencies Involved: Carter Fire, Black Eagle FD, Fort Benton FD, Loma FD, DNRC resources out of Lewistown, BLM, along with additional partner agencies who contributed to this successful response.

Most Recent Update from Fort Benton Volunteer Fire Department: The fire burning just northeast of Floweree, MT has now been named the Middle Coulee Fire. A plume of smoke is being pushed east-northeast by west-southwest winds sustained at 15-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. A dry cold front is going to move through later this evening, shifting winds to the northwest, which could change the fire's direction of spread and the location of the smoke plume.
