Our 2026 Summer Recreation Grande Finale on Tuesday 08/18/26 was amazing. We sponsored a FREE bowling and pizza day at Black Earth Lanes. We had 50 local youth participate. I want to thank all the parents, adults, and deputies that helped chaperone the event. Special Thanks to owners Kris and Troy for helping us make this event a success. As we start planning for 2027, we look forward to providing new and exciting opportunities for our program and as always we - Hope to see you there!

On Tuesday August 11th, we hosted our 4th week of Summer Recreation by welcoming James the Magician to the Black Earth Public Library. James did such a magical job interacting with the children and including volunteers to assist in the show. He is a true professional! We look forward to inviting him back next year.

 The Dane County Sheriffs Office Contract and Community Deputies hosted a 2nd week of Summer Recreation by providing a FREE day at the Black Earth Children’s Museum. We had 28 local children participate. We are very lucky to have such an amazing venue in our Community. Next week we will not be hosting our own event. Instead, we encourage all local residents to participate in national night out. Locations available by internet search. The Dane County National Night Out will be at Deerfield Elementary. Verona also has one at Festival Park. Middleton is hosting one at Lakeview Park. Please reach out to those specific Municipalities for exact times and activities. Hope to see you there!

Week 1 of the Black Earth/Mazomanie Summer Recreation was held yesterday at Lion’s Den Taekwondo. Grand Master Miles was so great with our participants. They played competitive games, learned some kicking skills, and self discipline techniques. All 16 participants had an amazing time. Next week Tuesday July 28th we are at the Children’s Museum 12:30p-2:00p. All activities are FREE! We hope to see you there!

Summer Recreation starts tomorrow!!!
Please join us at Lion’s Den Taekwondo - 1337 Mills St. in Black Earth - 12:30-2p. Master Miles will talk about some basic martial arts skills. Participants will learn various kicks, punches, and self discipline techniques. We hope to see you there!!!

If you filled out a permission slip for Spring Break Recreation, you do not need to fill out an additional one for Summer. Please contact me by either email or phone number. I was asked by the Village of Black Earth to send out a reminder to all residents. When placing your trash and recycle bins out for pick up, please either put them at the end of your driveway or up on the curb. This will allow the street to be clear for fire trucks, snow removal, and/or the street sweeper.

On Monday, June 15th Pellitteri trucks will be coming back for recycling pick up on Center St., Blue Mounds St., and Mills St. If your recycling was missed on Wednesday, June 10th due to the storm and you are on a DIFFERENT street, please contact Pellitteri directly at 608-257-4285 or [email protected] with your address by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 12 to be added to their list. If request is not received by 4:30PM, they cannot guarantee you will be added to the list for Monday! PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE VILLAGE OFFICE WITH INQUIRIES!
