As we continue preparing for the summer season and working together to reduce wildfire risk in our mountain communities, we wanted to share an important update from our partners at Xcel Energy. Vegetation management plays a critical role in protecting our power infrastructure, helping prevent outages, safeguarding water supplies, and reducing the risk of wildfire.

Please see the information below regarding upcoming work in the Idaho Springs, Black Hawk, and Central City areas:

⬇️⬇️⬇️

🚧 Attention Idaho Springs, Black Hawk and Central City Neighbors! 🚧

Xcel Energy contract crews will be performing important vegetation management work in Idaho Springs, Black Hawk and Central City during June to maintain safe and reliable service within your community, protect water supplies, and reduce wildfire risk. Work will take place in these communities and surrounding mountain areas throughout the month and into July.

Crews will be clearing brush, trimming trees, and removing hazard trees around power lines. Please be considerate and mindful of their efforts as they work to keep everything running smoothly.

✅ Drive cautiously near work zones
✅ Follow posted signs for everyone's safety
✅ Give crews space to do their job safely and efficiently

This Memorial Day, the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office honors and remembers the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Today is more than a long weekend or the start of summer — it is a time to pause, reflect, and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.

We are forever grateful to the fallen heroes who served with courage, selflessness, and honor, and we keep their families and loved ones in our hearts today and always.

As we gather with family and friends, we encourage everyone to take a moment to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day and honor those who never made it home.

We hope everyone has a meaningful and safe Memorial Day weekend, and we thank our amazing community for continuing to look out for one another. - GCSO 🚓❤️🤍💙
