Gilpin County Human Services GCDHS provides financial, food, medical, & child care benefits; along with services for children, youth, seniors & veterans. We are people who help people!

Gilpin County is a beautiful place to live and to raise children. However, the beauty of this County should not blind us to the needs that exist around us. A number of our neighbors need our help. From infant to the elderly, the adolescent to the vet, Gilpin County Human Services provides guidance, assistance and support to those at risk. Gilpin County Human Services is aware of the needs in this

community. We help by providing financial, food, medical and child care benefits; assisting children, youth, adult, senior & veterans. We work hard to help those who need our assistance to become more self-sufficient and self-reliant. We offer these services respectfully and confidentially to members of our community.

Don't forget! The Kids Summer Breakfast and Lunch program is happening tomorrow!

Gilpin County Food Pantry located at 101 Norton Drive Black Hawk, CO 80422

When?
3:00-6:00pm

This program is free to all kiddos. Breakfast and lunch items including chicken nuggets, corn dogs, eggs, sausage and more will be provided.

📢 Juneteenth Closure Reminder

In observance of Juneteenth, several Gilpin County services will be closed on Friday, June 19.

🚛 Transfer Station – Closed
🌲 Slash Site – Closed
🍽️ Senior Lunch Program – No lunch service

Regular operations will resume on the next scheduled service day.

Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and is a day to reflect on freedom, equality, and our shared history.

Only 2 more days to get on the waitlist for the Housing Choice Voucher Program (AKA Section 8). Applications are in our office between the two front doors and can be given to the front desk or left in the drop. box. They must be received by 3:00 in our office or mailed or email to Grand County Housing authority by 5:00. You can also contact Grand County Housing authority at 970-887-3122.

Gilpin County's section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program opens this Wednesday, 5/20/2026.

The waitlist will be open from May 20th - May 22nd.

Please contact Gilpin County Human Services in person to receive an application.

Applications must be returned to the Gilpin County Human Service office no later than May 22nd, at 3pm.
