A Crone Healing Experience

Saturday, August 29th - 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Women 60 and older—Your life holds wisdom. Your voice carries medicine.

Join author, teacher, and healer Meta Commerse for an intimate workshop honoring the deep and precious stories of elder women’s lives.

Through reflection, shared words, and an empowering call-and-response experience, participants will be invited to remember, speak, listen, and celebrate the stories that have shaped them.

Come as you are. Leave inspired, affirmed, and more deeply connected to the story only you can tell.

Space is limited and registration is required.

Click here to register or call the library: 828-250-4756. Registration for this event will close on August 27th.

Board Member Update!

The Black Mountain Library Board is pleased to welcome two new members and announce two new board assignments. Please join us in welcoming our new board members and congratulating our officers on their new roles.

President: Clint Bowman. Clint is a Recreation Coordinator for the Town of Black Mountain and has been serving on the FOL board since 2023. Clint is also the facilitator of the Dark City Poets Society that he cofounded with Melisa Pressley in 2020. Clint and his wife are originally from the Winston-Salem area and moved to Black Mountain in 2019.

Vice President: Laura Donohoe. Laura has been serving on the FOL board since March of 2025. She is a former bookstore owner and, since retiring in 2022, has enjoyed volunteering in many capacities around the community. Laura and her husband moved to Black Mountain from New Jersey in May of 2010.

FOL Board Member: Shari Galant. Shari moved to Black Mountain with her husband in 2020. She has volunteered with the Black Mountain Beautification Committee since then in several capacities and has recently served as Chair of that committee. Two book clubs, weekly Mahjongg games, and a love of cooking and travel keep her busy and engaged.

FOL Board Member: Linda Solomon. Linda and her husband moved to Black Mountain in September. She enjoys volunteering with SVCM and serving as a board member at Emberlight. She recently retired from private practice as a Marriage & Family Therapist and is grateful to have more time to read, hike, and enjoy the beauty of WNC.
