Calling all Native survivors, advocates, and Tribal leaders—National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center wants to hear from you!

NIWRC invites you to share your story to help inform future advocacy. These submissions will serve as a foundation for shaping recommendations, identifying resource needs, and supporting the development and sustainability of Tribal domestic violence programs. This project also aims to raise broader awareness about the unique experiences of AI/AN victim-survivors.

Domestic violence can include many different behaviors that abusers use to control their partners, and some might be harder to recognize than others.

Being aware of these and other "red flags" helps us all build stronger communities:

🚩 They can help victims and survivors find language and support for what they're experiencing.

🚩 They can help concerned friends and loved ones start a conversation with someone they're worried about.

🚩 They can even help us all see and call out harmful messages in the media, in the headlines, and in pop culture.

Hope House of South-Central Wisconsin is dedicated to helping any individual who is affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, or elder abuse. While Hope House doesn’t have a specific program tied to mental health or substance abuse recovery, they do see a correlation between those topics and the individuals they serve, and as such, the staff are well versed in how to assist with these situations in relation to domestic violence and abuse of all kinds. Hope House does not require background checks or complete sobriety for individuals to receive services from them. Their only stipulation is that individuals staying with them do not bring substances onto the property (whatever you choose to do outside of the building is up to you.)
