We all know that we received a significant amount of snow yesterday...but did you know that you have to have your sidewalks shoveled within 24 hours? Please be courteous to your neighbors and keep those sidewalks clear! Snow and ice are no fun to navigate on foot and even more hazardous for those in wheelchairs or otherwise impaired.
Thank you!!
The BRF city ordinance is copied and pasted below from the official website: www.blackriverfalls.us

8.06 SNOW AND ICE REMOVAL. (1) REQUIRED. The owner, occupant or person in
charge of every building, lot or part of a lot within the City fronting upon a public sidewalk shall
remove all snow and ice from said sidewalk within 24 hours from the time the snow ceases to
fall. When ice is formed on the sidewalk so that it cannot be removed, it shall be kept sprinkled
with ashes, salt, sand or like material.
(2) DEPOSIT ON STREETS PROHIBITED. No person shall deposit or cause to be
deposited any snow or ice upon any sidewalk, alley, parkway, public place or street in the City;
provided, however, that snow or ice removed from the sidewalk in front of or abutting any
premises or the premises which abut such sidewalk may be deposited on the parkway and, in the
event there is no parkway on the street fronting such premises prior to snow or ice being plowed,
windrowed and removed from the street by the City.
(3) REMOVAL BY CITY. If snow or ice is not removed from sidewalks or sprinkled,
as required by sub. (1) above, or if snow or ice is deposited on any sidewalk, alley, parkway,
public place or street in the City in violation of sub. (2) above, the City may remove or cause to
be removed all such snow or ice and the person in charge of the premises from which the snow
or ice was removed and so deposited shall be charged for the City cost of such removal. If not
paid within 30 days, such charge shall be placed on the tax roll, pursuant to §66.0627, Wis. Stats.

Okay fellow Wisconsinites...by now you all know the drill! Slow down, headlights on, and leave plenty of space between you and the other drivers. We have a mix of freezing rain and snow today so it won't take much to make the roads slippery. Road crews are out doing their best but you still need to do your part! Drive safely, everyone!

Snow moves into the area tomorrow (Friday) afternoon. Here is the latest projection on snowfall totals through Saturday, but strong winds are expected on Saturday that could cause drifting and additional impacts. Keep track of forecasts if you have any travel planned.

Just a reminder that alternate side parking took effect on Dec. 1st in the city of BRF. On even calendar dates, park on the side of the street with even numbered houses. On odd calendar dates, park on the side of the street with odd numbers. The date is determined at 10pm each night. For example, today is December 4th. That is an even date and all vehicles must be parked on the even side of the street tonight by 10pm. This city ordinance does not override any existing parking regulations where parking is otherwise prohibited by signs or state statutes and is in effect until April 1st, regardless of snowfall amounts. Thank you for your cooperation!

We can't stress this enough! Headlights ON in fog, rain, snow....anytime that visibility is limited you are required by state law to use them! If your car has "automatic" headlights, be certain that they are on the correct setting and actually turned on to the low beams. Also, slow down and pay attention. Fog makes it very difficult to see obstacles in the roadway in front of you. Drive safe, everyone!

Roads are slick and visibility is limited in places. Slow down and turn on those headlights this afternoon!

Okay...we get it....it's dark and COLD outside. You just want to hop in your car and get to your nice, warm destination. But please...take 5 minutes to scrape the frost, ice and/or snow off of your vehicle's windows! It will be much safer for everyone and hey...maybe the exercise will help you warm up? :-)

Roads are slippery and snow covered....allow extra time to get to your destination this morning and remember to turn on those headlights! Plow trucks are out and doing their best; give them space and let them do their job! Remember...this is only the first of many snow events that we Wisconsinites deal with every season. Safe travels, everyone!

While we hate to think that we will soon be dealing with this, it is best to be prepared! It is Winter Weather Awareness week and WKBT has some good information to share! And on this note, Winter Parking Regulations start at 12:01am on December 1st. Even calendar date=even numbered side of street; odd calendar date=odd numbered side of street except where otherwise prohibited by sign, ordinance or state statute.

It's Winter Weather Awareness Week. ❄️☃️🥶
Do you know the difference between a Winter Storm WATCH and a Winter Storm WARNING?
Do you know what a Winter Weather Advisory means?
It's important to know what each headline means as we head into the winter season.
