This area includes the city of Black River Falls, and all or part of the townships of Adams, Alma, Albion, Brockway, Irving, Komensky, Manchester, and Millston. Congratulations to BRF Firefighter Ryan Whaley on his recognition at his full time job for a tense moment that many people in this community will remember forever. Thank you for your service to our community, and thank you for serving in more than one capacity! 👏

Yesterday at the Jackson County Board Meeting, representatives of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association (WPPA) presented our own Deputy Ryan Whaley with an Award for Valor. Deputy Whaley was nominated for the award by a member of his command staff for his courageous and selfless actions during a call for service on May 27, 2019.

The incident began as an attempt to locate a stolen vehicle. When law enforcement attempted to make contact with the driver, a pursuit ensued which culminated in the City of Black River Falls with the driver firing shots at law enforcement officers. Deputy Whaley was off duty at the time, but upon hearing the commotion of the initial call, he asked permission from his command staff to check on duty to aid his fellow deputies, knowing the danger and severity of the situation. Per his nomination letter, "Deputy Whaley showed distinguished bravery that ultimately ended the actions of a violent suspect who was indeed a major threat to the welfare of the community and other officers."

Thank you to Deputy Whaley and to all of our law enforcement officers who willingly put themselves directly into harm's way to protect the citizens of this community. Your sacrifice and dedication does not go unnoticed.

THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! We have such a great community.

YOU, OUR GENEROUS NEIGHBORS, SHOWED AWESOME SUPPORT TO Black River Falls Fire and Rescue!

Our annual Customer Appreciation Event looked very different this year. However, you supported the BRF Fire Department like you always do!

Because of your generosity we were able to give the BRF Fire Dept. a check for $1414.84! And $530.95 was because customers simply "rounded up" their transaction total. Every penny really does add up! $883.89 was from direct donations the community gave.

Thanks to the BRF Fire & Rescue team for all they do to take care of our community and thank you customers for supporting them and supporting your local businesses! We appreciate all of you!

It’s that time of year again..

You may see Utility crews in your neighborhood next week -- Black River Falls Municipal Utilities will be flushing water mains starting Monday, October 5th, and they hope to finish up by the end of the week.

Every year, crews move from neighborhood to neighborhood across Black River Falls scouring the city’s water mains. The flushing technique moves water at a high velocity through water mains and fire hydrants to clear out sediment from naturally-occurring minerals.

Clean pipes are essential for a clean, healthy water supply, and that’s why Black River Falls Municipal Utilities is committed to maintaining their comprehensive flushing program . However, flushing water mains can temporarily cause discolored water in nearby homes. If you notice flushing signs in your neighborhood, wait until the evening hours to do laundry or run the dishwasher, and make sure your water is clear first. If you do experience discolored water, run a tap in the basement for a few minutes until the water clears.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact Municipal Utilities at 715-284-9463
