Friday Night Outdoor Concert: Old Pros Big Band: June 12

The Friday Night Outdoor Concert on Henderson Lawn will be held tonight Friday, June 12, from 6 - 7:30pm. This evening’s concert features the Old Pros Big Band. The Old Pros Big Band is an all-volunteer organization based in the New River Valley in southwest Virginia. Founded in 1973, the band specializes in music of the big band era and performs concerts, dances, receptions, and fundraisers on a regular basis.

The Friday Night Outdoor Concerts on Henderson Lawn are presented by Virginia Tech and the Town of Blacksburg as part of the 2026 Summer Arts Festival. All events are free.

College Avenue Closure for Friday Night Henderson Lawn Concert: June 12

Today, June 12, College Avenue from Main Street to Draper Road will be closed beginning at 3pm and will reopen to traffic at 9pm. This closure is in place to accommodate the Friday Night Henderson Lawn concert, a part of the 2026 Summer Arts Festival. Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority (MRSWA) is now accepting aseptic cartons in curbside recycling pickup and at county consolidated sites.

Aseptic cartons are shelf-stable paperboard containers for food and beverages. Typically used for milk, juice, soup, and broth.

Here in Blacksburg these can now be placed in the green recycling bin for home recycling or in any other single-stream recycling.
