We were so honored to work with Rural GroundGame this year!
This year, with the support of dedicated volunteers, we reached nearly 3 million voters at the doors and on the phones. We spoke to voters from Shenandoah Valley, to Southside, to Tidewater, Southwest, and everywhere in between. With our partners at the Rural Caucus Democratic Party of Virginia, Virginia Young Democrats VAYD Rural Caucus, Red2Blue, Swing Blue Alliance, local Democratic committees, and many others, we spent months talking to Virginians who have often felt left out or left behind.
This year’s election results reflect hope. We celebrate the sweeping, historic Democratic victories statewide and in securing a powerfully strong majority in the House of Delegates. We also recognize that there is a special kind of heartbreak that comes with being a rural Democrat, when we can rejoice in the big wins with the rest of our team but also carry the weight of knowing that there is so much more to be done to ensure that our communities and issues are seen.
We are very grateful to the candidates who stepped up this year to run in every corner of Virginia and for those that supported them. Stepping up to run for office is an incredibly generous and brave contribution to our collective efforts to work towards a better world. We are eager to expand on our years of candidate recruitment work with Red2Blue, and reach new heights with our partners at Build the Bench where we will develop more infrastructure and support to continue to identify potential candidates and work to offer more support to those who courageously put their name on a ballot.
In 2025, we reached over 5.5 million ad impressions across print and digital advertising. Our Storyteller Project brought the personal stories of everyday people to voters across rural Virginia as they experience the realities of policy impacts from cuts to our healthcare, the fear of ICE raids, and defunding of our public schools. Stories from people like Tim, Andrea, Willie, and Teresa not only lent these folks a voice, but paved the way for healers and helpers to better their communities and fight back against the increasingly chaotic and cruel administration in DC. The 2026 midterms have already begun, and our Storyteller Project will be a top priority for our work as we seek to move more people to join the coalition to fight for our country by fighting for our neighbors.
