Screen time is part of childhood today. But so is the need for real connection, confidence, movement, and time outdoors.

The research continues to show a clear connection between excessive recreational screen time and challenges like anxiety, poor sleep, loneliness, attention difficulties, and lower life satisfaction.

That’s why outdoor experiences matter.

In Scouting, youth have opportunities to step away from screens and step into something real: trails, campfires, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, friendship, and adventure.

Summer camp is more than a break from technology. It is a place where young people build confidence, develop resilience, strengthen social connections, and discover what they are capable of.

Children may not remember every hour they spent online but they will remember the summer they discovered confidence, friendship, and who they could become.
